Hi Guys,

Unfortunately have to send my Titan back for RMA. Been approved.

Can I send it back in the retail box, with the box wrapped in bubble wrap??? I know I wont get the box back, I assume I will get a refurbished unit, with a different serial number anyway.

Or do I simply wrap the card in bubble wrap, inside a box full of foam pellets...............

The RMA instructions say NOT to send in the retail box, but I want the best chance of the card not being damaged in shipping and RMA being rejected.

Cheers

Bubble wrap the GPU then place the GPU in a sturdy box with foam pellets is fine.

Time to find a store that has decent boxes and foam pellets here in Australia. Unfortunately out postal service has very little in that regard.

I actually work for the U.S. Postal Service. If your item is (overly) fragile, make it VERY EXTREMELY 100% CLEAR!! I've seen supermarket cakes go through the mail, and even single banannas that people write on and slap stamps on LOL!!

And you know what? Being THAT obviously fragile, I bet they arrived in perfect condition. I KNOW they left my hands that way! LOL *edit* I'm not a Carrier, so don't see what pacakages look like when delivered to their destinations.

In all cases, I'd recommend packing material almost to the point of overstuffing. Leaving "dead airspace" in the package increases the crushing risk when other packages are placed on top of yours, which WILL happen. Use whatever you can get your hands on, the professional packing materials and tapes really are best, but even wadded up newspaper works.

Haha yep!!! I've seen it! Some of the things people mail, they pay more in postage than the item is actually worth......*shrug*. Not for me to judge, they're paying my paycheck :)

I'd figure they'd get crushed or messed up in the machines that sort the mail...weird. That or they'd be over ripped and mushy by the time they reached their destination.

Not all parcels are sorted on the machines. If they're too heavy, too big, too oddly shaped, too fragile, etc.....they're held out to be sorted manually. Also, the machines don't read handwriting very well, or labels that are simply printed on a plastic pouch, like medicines or jeans.

Manually sorting Priority parcels is what I've done for, hmm....at least 10 years now.

Handwritten labels are a Post Office only thing.....UPS and Fed Ex don't have to deal with that like we do, they have strict labeling guidelines. I've had to try to decipher Grandma's arthritic scrawls for 20+ years LOL! My poor eyes >.<

+1..... and make sure you take picts, or video even, of the card with close ups and your name written on a piece of paper with the date next to it, to avoid any issues and cover your own butt. Unless you take it to a ups store etc... and they pack it and ship it off, youll still be responsible for it getting broken in shipping if it gets manhandled. They will say that if it was packed and labeled correctly there wouldn't be a issue. Of course if ups store packs it incorrectly that's a different story. You can always put fragile stickers, or marker it even, across the box. Anythings better than nothing at all!!! Theres nothing wrong with too much packing material. Consider this......it has to survive a couple sorts and at each one they are gonna punt your package into the truck like a football. If you think you've done it well enough to survive that then youll be ok. :D

Its true!!!  Radio stations do that kinda silly crap with contests they run. The other day I heard one around here where they were sending people individual twinkies if they got a question right. lol

oh interesting. I try to just type out the addresses on paper and tape over them versus writing.. I don't try to subject people to my chicken scratch writing lol.

    Hi Guys,

Well both cards are on their way back to Taiwan with DHL express. Here is a pic of them packed and ready to seal up. Hopefully should meet the requirements.

I also took Hi-Res pictures of the cards, with no evidence of any damage just in case.

    Cheers

I can't always get the things I want while deployed and received some weird things..

I am not even deployed right now, and received a pumpkin cupcake on Saturday... It was mailed from New Mexico to Korea... LoL.

I did not pack them myself, I used a company here called pack and send. Cannot take the credit.

Packing itself was cheap, but freight was expensive (express, insured, tracking - DHL). They take care of the whole thing, less mucking around for me, thankfully.

I will update as I find out how it goes.

Thank you all for the replies and information.
