Today i finally got my EVGA Gtx 970 FTW.
I am kinda dissappointed because it has exactly the same buzzing noise as my previous MSI Gaming Gtx 970.
Back then i didnt have a second power supply, but now i have

Be Quiet Pure Power 530W
EVGA G2 850W (new)

For testing purposes i also have my old HD 7870XT card, there is no buzzing sound at all.
The Buzzing with the FTW is exactly the same with both PSU's. It happens when benchmarking and playing games even at low FPS.

I recently read that the new FTW cards have been revisioned and that buzzing sound is supposed to not be there anymore?
What are my options now?

If it is "coil whine" which is a buzzing wound when you get 60+ FPS or under full load I can reassure you that the whine goes away with time.  I received my 970 SSC ACX 2.0 early october and it was whining in Diablo 3, WoW, Wolfenstein and other games.

It's now october 30th and the whine is almost gone! Before I could hear it when gaming without a headset and now i'm not sure it's even there anymore.

Every manufacturer have this trouble but it goes away with time.  Play games, run benches and forget about the whine.  One day you won't even remember it.

I'm note really sure if it's coil whine. Usually coil whine is really high pitched and changes tonality and you get it for example in game menus when having extreme FPS numbers. My 970 FTW also has this, but it's no problem as long as it only is in menus. Whats bothering me is this loud electical buzzing under load, even with under 100 FPS.

I'm gonna try and let the benchmark run for a while, but I really thought EVGA worked on this problem and the new card's coils were fixed.

I'm gonna try everything before RMA'ing it. It has 83% Asic and clocks stock to 1531 MHz, I'm happy with that and would love to keep it.

With it clocking like that at stock I would just live with the noise.

My thoughts exactly lol. But I'd really like to know if there are several revisions of this card (on my card it says rev 0.1) where the buzzing is fixed and if there's anything i can do to fix it.

I have Rev A1 of the 970 FTW. No noises once so ever from mine. I've only had it for less than a day though, I might soon experience that the very least some coil whine eventually.

Where does it say Rev A1? I can only see Rev 0.1 on the PCIe Connection

I've got my 970 FTW yesterday and today i have run my new card through some tests. After starting the Heavens Benchmark, my FTW started to make heavy coil whine at only 40 FPS. Also coil whine at 30-50 FPS at 3D Mark Firestrike, >80 FPS at WoW and >200 FPS at CS:GO...
That sucks :( The only way out is a RMA. I can't activate V-Sync, if the coil whine is still existing at low frames.

My Revision is also A1. The weird thing is, i thought Evga fixed this issue with the new batch of 970 FTW's.

Mine is from Hardwareversand, Germany. But in whole Europe there weren't any FTW's for like 2 weeks, thats why i thought the available cards this week have to be a revisioned batch.

I am wondering if the batch that came in where in shipment, before they stated all shipped cards would be of a new batch. If they went on a boat over there, as a cost saving procedure, then it very well may be the case. If it is really bad, RMA it, and you should get a better card, or even the new revision. Sorry you guys are going through this.

I've opened a ticket an hour ago and my revision is also "A1". I hope the EVGA support is as good as everyone says ;D
It's my first Geforce card, after many many years of AMD/ATI^^

I'm not even sure if this is coil whine. It sounds more deep and buzzing, and the sound doesnt change when moving in games, like typical whine does.

Did yours sound similar GomJabbar, or higher pitched? How fast does it go away?

That is coil whine. It's not always the same sound. For me, it's a high pitched whimper.

Exact same but louder on mine.  I bought the card early october (around the 8th) and as of today the 31st I can't hear it.
But YMMV cause I heard it can take months before it goes away.

Are you sure it goes away after a while? I have been burning my second GTX 970 for 48 hours nonstop with [link=mailto:folding@home]folding@home[/link] and heaven benchmark. The coil whine only got worse.

I returned my 980 to Newegg but they didn't have any eVGA 980 in stock so they refunded me. I don't feel like paying 629 for a reference 980 so I picked up a MSI 970. I went though 3 cards (one 980 and two 970s) and they all had coil whine. The 980 had the loudest whine but none of them will whine if I limit the FPS to 120 but they all whined at FPS above 200. I have been using nvidia card since 07 and this is the first time EVER I experience coil whine. I tested my old eVGA 680 FTW and it is silent. I am really disappointing with nVidia. As far as I know, all brands 970/980 suffer from coil whine so it is not eVGA's fault. I am sticking with my onboard video for now since I sold my 680 for the 9xx series and if coil whine doesn't improve with the future model, I am buying a xbox and leaving gaming pc forever.

I have the exact same problem. I have just installed it and it's the first thing I hear when I fire up futuremark or a game.

I've had coil whine with 6 gtx 970's so far lol 3 EVGA and 3 Gigabyte. I replaced my PSU as well and it didn't help a bit, could of saved that extra $120 on a new PSU. Maybe its a motherboard issue??? My system runs stable at 4.5ghz i5-4670k. Thank goodness I wear headphones while gaming or my anxiety level would go through the roof with the coil whine.

It's not bad some of the time, but it changes frequencies causing slow low sounding click tones or high pitched sequels so that change is what wakes you up.

I've got my replacement card from EVGA today and there is coil whine again. Not as loud as my old one, but still hearable. Now i think about to run the Heavens Benchmark a few nights and maybe the coil whine gets better. Or should i do a RMA again? I don't know... >_<

To be honest, sometimes they just whine. You sir may be on a witch hunt. If you really want to know if its your psu, roll up some cardstock or get an old paper towel tube and point it at your gpus or psu, should help you pinpoint the sound.

However those "clicking" sounds may be a fan problem, keep an eye on them.
