 Howdy!

Alright, I want to start a new project. Its going to be an X99 HTPC using the Steiger Dynamics Maven case, but I would like to ask you all if you happen to know anything about bending acrylic, or modding with acrylic for shrouds and covers to hide things like cables and PSU's? Or if you know where I can buy acrylic? I'll post pictures of the case (so use your imagination to subtract all the components). I'm going to be drilling the lid to accommodate a 240mm corsair H105, and then removing the storage cases, and drilling another grill in the base for a 120mm intake fan to help air flow and open up the case. It will have sound dampening material lining the whole thing, will be anodized in black, and accented with blue. So the EVGA gtx 970's will be perfect for this build :) I have access to a C&C machine and several mills, so as far as tools go I think I've got what I need.

Please let me know if you happen to know of any acrylic tips, or bending tutorials for shrouds or shields, etc. Don't hold back! :D Thanks!

I basically just want to run all of the cables up on the walls of the case, and then cover them with a thin but solid black acrylic wall, leaving everything in the center plane and empty. I won't be using the cages for the HDDs or typical SSDs because I'll be using the MSI X99 SLI Plus motherboard with its M.2 slot (less cables that way and the m.2 ssd is waaay faster).  It'll be great especially because its all black. It'll have 2 video cards, 8 dimms of ddr4 ram (32gb), and MAYBE a sound card... I haven't decided on that one yet. But I think the acrylic wall will give the whole thing a nice, clean and finished elegant look overall. The fans in the side aren't yellow despite the picture, they are actually black. And the fans on the H105 cpu cooler will be the corsair SP 120mm BLUE fans. Or possibly some other fans if you suggest some that you think are better, as long as they're blue. ;)

The shroud will start at the connectors of the PSU, with a hole cut that the cables will flow into, with small holes at the base around the case to let the cables out to their prospective ports. And I obviously won't be covering any fan ports.

So my question is, does anyone know ANYTHING about acrylic mods???

You can buy acrylic at these online stores:

    http://www.estreetplastics.com/

    http://www.delviesplastics.com/

    http://www.acrylite-shop.com/US/us/product-groups/sheet-5n7n4w7zmsi.html

To make a cover I suggest you use 1/8" thick acrylic (easier bending) You can have the pieces cut with a laser or you can cut them yourself using either a jigsaw or use the scoring and snap method. Grab yourself a heat gun for bending or one of these http://www.tapplastics.com/product/supplies_tools/plastic_tools_supplies/plastic_bending_strip_heater_element/169

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with!

Thank you so much for the help! I was beginning to think this thread was going to dissolve into the internet alone and cold. The links really help. You wouldn't happen to know of any guides or tutorials anywhere? Everyone always says I can use a "laser" to cut it with... are they talking about a laser cutting machine, like a CNC? Aren't those like... $14000 dollars or something? :P
