As title says, replacing:
Z68 FTW / 2700K (@4.2 on Corsair H100i)
16g corsair vengeance DDR3 1600
Unstable (recently) Silverstone Zeus 1200W PSU
2 X GTX 580sc w/ backplates, in SLI (need good home!).
Not a newb, but would welcome suggestions / tips, such as set-up, & is single 980sc, still a boost over 2 X 580's?
This is 8th build but, busy personal life, has thrown me out of the loop, for a few years, so playing catch-up.
Stuck with EVGA due to past, excellent service/support, despite some other X99's seemingly having a slight edge (more USB/USB3?).
Did I pick well? Oh, and would welcome E-ATX case suggestions that do better cable management. Temjin T09 is an Aluminum beast bust very last gen, with no CPU hole or cable holes/grommets.
Thanks guys,

Note: All stuff is shipped, but, if I goofed(not $ so much, as quality), I could always return
Guess I won't need X-Fi Fatal1ty sound card, as the X99 has creative on-board?
Edit: Suck = stuck

Rather than a single EVGA GTX 980SC why not indulge in two EVGA GTX 970 video cards in SLI?

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Money-wise, that makes complete sense!  I'm in a fortunate position, I guess that not having built for a few, my 'puter budget, is flush, and a second 980sc beckons (+ one of those fancy SLI bling - bridges)! Oh, the humanity
I've always enjoyed, and learned much from you posts, Robert, btw "I stuck with EVGA, not suck", (I'll edit that, lol), and your value point, is well taken.  However I've always "sucked" good mileage out of my products; e.g. my son, has my old 780i SLI (nForce)/QX6700, now with GTX770sc, and still running like a well-oiled machine.
Any other problems you see? I originally wanted Crucial Ballistic Sport, but they're like hen's teeth, and Corsair hasn't let me down, yet.
Will Supernova P2 1000 do SLI with ease?

rjohnson11 give you nice recommendation.
i7-2770K and 2xGTX970 SLI is much better than single GTX980.
Best will be GTX970 FTW ACX 2.0...And yes 1000 P2 is enough for any SLI variant.

I like more Graphite 760T and Obsidian 750D.
But you choose what you like. In both will fit E-ATX and XL-ATX and HPTX (SR-2, SR-X)

Up and running, but...........initial observations: 1) ONE USB 2.0 HEADER! cannot connect front panel, and my Corsair H100i Water Block, at same time!
2) There's a 6-pin "ATX PWR" female connector (like video card power/pinout) at bottom of board, facing downward. Any ideas?
3) A single row 5-pin connector (pin 2 missing) similar to EV Gauge on P67 / Z68 that displayed CPU frequency. Any thoughts? Tempted to plug gauge in, but scared to fry board
4) Firewire header absent, but that is an obsolete format, now.
Haven't played with bios yet (upgraded to 1.07 and had to reset RAID option). Will watch video to get tips.

Answered my 3): Should have looked more closely at manual, which confirms EVGauge connection.  Took gauge off old Z68 FTW and it works!

That's excellent RIG. X99 Classified is one complete motherboard.
Even if some affordable M.2 show up you don't need to worry.
You didn't wrong even if GTX970 SLI now is nicest option maybe, but when I think better I would done same, with GTX980 SC,
for 12 months you will able to buy one more for 300$ and 1000 P2 will be far more than enough.

Thx!  As soon as the credit card is paid off, I'll SLI the 980sc(have the EVGA bling SLI connector, on it's way!). Already seeing amazing frame rates with one.
Haven't started experimenting with bios yet, other than 1.07 flash.

No, look again at (green) signature: Corsair 2800 DDR4 Vengeance LPX (Low Profile).
The DDR3 (also Vengeance) was my old Z68 build

Start with one Ram stick, and try moving it to a different slot, until you can update the bios. Mine wouldn't boot until I utilized only slot 3 and booted that way. Once bios was updated, all Ram was recognized.

This isn't the first time that Ram slot 7 has given an issue.  Not sure what to do to fix it though.
