Hey folks,

I am clueless and hope you can help me before I do another RMA.

At first my specifications:
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V LX
RAM: 4 x 4GB 2133MHz G.Skill Ripjaws
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD Superclocked
Power Supply (old): Superflower 680W
Power Supply (new): Corsair RM1000 1000W

Since the beginning of this year I am having problems with playing games on my computer.
I'm usually playing Battlefield 3/4, Smite and from time to time some Warcraft 3 (still).
Battlefield 3 and 4 have high requirements for the hardware. Smites requirements aren't that high and
Warcraft 3 is 12 Years old by now.
While I am able to play Battlefield 3 and 4 without any problems, my computer is crashing while playing Warcraft 3 and Smite.
It is like only the GPU is crashing because I can still hear the ingame sounds or my friends in teamspeak.
So I did reinstall the drivers just like it is explained in here:
It did not help and I reinstalled my Windows. Which didn't help aswell.
Then I did an RMA (in may this year) but since I got the same problems after receiving a new card I thought the problem is my power supply.

So I changed from a 680W Superflower to a 1000W Corsair supply. But the PC is still crashing (or giving me a black screen).
I also did a RAM-check and Benchmark on the GPU and it did run perfectly without any problems.

My question. Why is my computer crashing while playing "low" games like Warcraft 3? But i am able to play BF 3 and 4 perfectly.
If needed I can post the dxdiag or other logs. Please let me know what I need to post. Also if I need to post more detail on something.

Sorry for the long post. I hope you can help me.

Ps. Last thing... When I underclock my GPU with msi Afterburner, then I am able to play Warcraft 3 and other "low" games.

If you haven't already, update to the latest BIOS version..There's 18 BIOS updates since the original one for that board and most of them have to do with improving stabilty, and there's one to enhance compatibility with some PCIE devices and that would be my first step..Are you overclocking the CPU and what OS are you running and are you using HDMI or DVI (try switching ports yet)?

    Hi,
    thanks for the fast reply.
I'm using Windows 8.1 and I'm not overclocking the CPU. I also use DVI for my 120Hz Monitor.
I managed, a few moments ago, to capture what's happening when I play smite. (As explained, this would not happen when playing battlefield)
    Sorry for the low quality.

No I haven't thought about updating to the latest BIOS version because I used my GPU for a long time (more than a year) without having any issues. But I will give it a try now and will update to the latest BIOS version (2501).

Thanks so far. Will give you an update after some testing.

Might want to try and older driver too, like in the 332.21 era, might be better for older games, and performing a Custom (Advanced) clean install..It's just always good to keep the BIOS up to date to eliminate that as a potential problem.

I have already updated the BIOS and did a clean reinstall of the display driver with the display driver uninstaller
My computer is still crashing :/

Here is the dxdiag if that is helping (some parts are in german, sorry for that)

Also, here the video of the crash while playing Smite. Since Smite is a relatively new game I don't think an older driver like the 332.21 will help.
But I will give this a try aswell.

With two video cards doing the same thing, and having replaced the power supply already, you're probably looking at either a Windows or a driver issue. As the problem only affects some games but not others, you can almost completely rule out a hardware issue as that would happen regardless of the game. I think bob16314 is on the right track, but I would suggest going back to an even older driver for a GTX 570. I would suggest version 314.22 with a clean install.

Thanks for your reply aswell JaesonW.
I did uninstall my old driver again. Then I installed the 314.22 driver that JaesonW posted (with a clean install).

I started SMITE --> it crashed again (after a few minutes: 5-10). Here is a second dxdiag I made after the crash.
    I started Warcraft 3 --> it crashed (after a few minutes: 5-10).
I started Battlefield 4 --> played for over half an hour without any issues.

I tried now almost every driver old or new, tested my RAM, changed my PSU and updated my BIOS but my computer is still crashing.
At the moment I'm quite clueless, once again.

Tomorrow a friend is coming over with his GTX560 Ti. At this point I'm pretty sure it's again a problem with the GPU and that the 560 Ti of my friend will
    run smoothly without issues.

Do you guys have any other ideas?
Thank you very much so far, I really appreciate it.

It's doesn't appear to be a driver issue at this point. It's starting to look more like the card is the issue. Testing your friend's 560Ti will tell you for sure if it's your card or something else. You can also try underclocking the card in Precision by 100Mhz, if this stabilizes the crashing then the card is definitely having a problem.

    Hey last update for today,

I changed the PCIE slot on my motherboard, by that I mean I have put the GPU into the second PCIE slot.
I also unplugged one of my monitors, so that only one monitor was in use for my last test.

And ofcourse... the computer still crashed. I used the tool "whocrashed", recommended by aka_STEVE_b. But there isn't any hint on display driver error or crashing.
At last I took the hint from JaesonW and underclocked my card to the values you can see in the picture below and it worked.

There must be some issues with the GPU. But I will still make a test with the GTX560 of my friend tomorrow, just to be sure.

    Hi again,

so I borrowed the GTX 560 Ti of a friend today and installed it.
As predicted, my computer did not crash at all. My card will be sent for rma.

It is just weird, that the card didn't even made it a year before producing issues.
Like I received a faulty card from last RMA. I hope things will be better after this RMA.

    Thanks everybody for the help.

By the way... is it okay to reference this thread when opening an RMA instead of explaining everything again?

Not surprised you are having problems, I use to have 2 x GTX 570 cards, a 1.28GB and a 2.56GB one, I had to RMA the 2.56GB one twice cause of issues

They are known for VRM's going bad on them as well as Random Black Screen crashes (mine had the black screen issue).

Here is a tip for ya, run the Unigine Valley benchmark and loop it, it will test the GPU only with very little CPU usage, if you have any problems in it then it is garanteed a Video Card problem, its what I did when I was testing my GTX 570 on different computers with the same results, then I RMA'd it.
