beware when using the word "Sneaky"

XrayMan crenges when people do that on the forum so watch out

going through the read me for ccminer brings some questions

d = devices as I have 1 gpu but string has d=0.08
p = password but no password is given in the string

well its a little sneaky. "d" is not for devices, "-d" is, that "-" is critical or the command line won't recognize it as a parameter. So after all -p statements there is some form of sting, most of the time its hardcoded to "x" and other times its d=0.08. Not to sure why he listed it like that so I just left it, but it shouldn't matter it you change d=0.08 to x.

EDIT: Also note that I am watching your posting on the other thread as I want to know whats going on to. No idea why its trying to mine heavycoins. Also with the api thing, just saying this link to the api page shows the only valid functions are for browing general information(hash rate and bitcoin balances mainly).

yeah, trying to figure out why it works for you but doesn't for me. I didn't change a thing from what you posted. It should work.

Do I look like a mushroom?.
No, then why do you keep me in the dark?.

as to
"algorithms": [
        { "name": "x11", "hashrate": 5251, "power": 49 },
        { "name": "x13", "hashrate": 4024, "power": 49 },
        { "name": "x15", "hashrate": 3270, "power": 52 },
        { "name": "nist5", "hashrate": 15682, "power": 54 }

I noticed in your example you have the values higher. What is the relationship, I mean I know higher power probably equals higher hash rates. But how do you determine what they should be set at?

Its just hash rate, when the miner is running it will display these numbers, miner control starts it minimized. Its basically the speed that your video card is mining at. As far as power use, I have a kilowatt meter so its the difference in wattage draw from idle when i'm folding. Measured from the wall. If I had to gues he was using a gtx 750ti when he filled it out and i'm using a gtx 980

From the picture earlier.

Yea, this gtx 980 are chewing up everything, crysis 3 maxed at 1080 and I stay above 70 fps. Something like 315k ppd when folding core17's. Also for mining I have it overclocked to ~1525mhz core and ~7600mhz on memory. Looks stable, don't get tons of red in my miner. Stable for firestrike/valley doesn't mean stable for folding/mining.

Well minercontrol now runs and doesn't give me the "dead" status. But CCminer still doesn't seem to launch

Oh yea I'm aware of that, its part of the reason I don't overclock my GTX 770 at all since its my gaming card, but my R9 270's are overclocked since they are just miners.

so, from the other mining thread instead of ccminer they recommend the following for Nvidia gpu miners

ccminer djm34 m7v7 - 01-09-2014

http://cudamining.co.uk/url/releases

haven't tried it myself yet. Still rebuilding my hard drive after last nights crash.

Yea I did see that and gave it a try myself. First two things I noticed is it gives an average hash rate with what looks to be std. deviation. Other thing is for x13 at least, I was only at 5350 khash/s and with the one I linked I'm at near 6000 khash/s. Don't know why ones slower, but it seems to be.

Hi everybody!
I am coming from AMD mining and I must say nvidia one is not very easy (automating it).
I've been looking at different miners, but I guess they are all based on ccminer / cudaminer...
And none of them have pools configuration. Like set up priority for pools etc...

I am saying all this, because it would be awesome if you can set Miner Control
to fail-over switch between pool 1, 2 or 3 in that order (if 1 and 2 are dead too switch to 3)
and if they are all dead to switch between pools 4,5 and 6 based on profit...

Anybody know if I can do that with Miner Control, or any of the miners, or any other tool out there?
Possibly shell scripting... ?
Is there anybody using linux effectively? I love PiMP and have all my AMD miners set up like that.

With miner control you could probably set up the weights so that it would behave that way. Drawback would be that once your in the program, the net profit column will be totally wrong.

So to do what you are asking, set the weights as follows:

Pool 1: 1000
Pool 2: 100
Pool 3: 10

Pools 4/5/6 : no weight (defaults to weight 1)

The net profit is multiplied by the weight before being displayed in the program. And based on these final values it will pick the highest number. So it would only mine into pool 2 is if pool 1 is dead or the net profit difference is large enough to overcome the weight difference, in this case pool two would have to have ten times the net profit to overcome pool one.

As Far as Linux goes, can't help you out to much, you would always try wine with miner control but I've never actually looked into it.

Thanks, Dave
Weight might make the right initial pool choice.
If pool 1, 2 and 3 are dead though, when is the next time they would be reconsidered for switching to?
Can I use "switchtime"? After initial start if pool 1,2,3 are dead (highest profit), and some of them becomes alive at some point,
will the next pool choice (after "switchtime") include pool 1, 2 and 3 again (highest profit, but alive now)?

That setting is deadtime, that number is the number of minutes before the program will re-consider trying to use them after they go into the dead state. Switchtime is the time the program waits to change algorithms when the current one being mined is no longer the most profitable(including set weights).

OK, so the last problem I had it seems is in the conf file instead of putting "worker": "1",

it should really be "worker":"password"

at least that's what I got my batch file to work with.

Well at least you got it working, I have no idea was wrong on your end.

Anyways, been bored lately and since I'm teaching myself a new c++ framework, figured why not try to make my own auto-mining app. Some pics below, this is only after like 2 hours(ish) of work mind you, its not anywhere near done. The framework I'm using should allow me to port this from windows into linux/OS X without toooo much trouble (once I figure out cross-compiling, tried it once before, it wasn't pretty).

End goal is to be able to check off the options you want and hit go if your just doing basic configs, while still having some flexibility of more technical things if you really want/need to.

Don't know if any of you would be interested in something like this, but if you guys are I'll keep you posted. Like I said, main purpose for my doing this is to help myself learn a new tool because the best way to learn is to do.

Note: After looking at the screenshots I forgot to add in the minimum profit before it will mine. Debating if I want to have how much BTC is going for listed on here.

Small update if people are still following what I'm up to. All web api's are implemented.

Notes: Profit collom is just raw btc/mhs/day. Have not sat down to figure out the net profit equation just yet. The random blocks in the status column are just tossed there so I can get a feel for what they look like. Also the current USD value of bitcoins is currently shown under cost of power because I'm actually not sure where/if I want to display it, just wanted to make sure it updates properly and is right. The extra space on the bottom I'm not to sure what i'm doing with just yet, may move some settings originally intended for the "Adv. Miner settings" pop-up screen to it.

looks really good dave but I'm not gonna be GPU mining much longer, I'm really soon gonna be buying my first Antminer S3, and buy a second one later on in the future and run them together.

Right now 2 x S3 miners can make around $150 a month.

with my current GPU setups I can barely get $20 - $30 a month, thats a big difference, gpu mining is dieing in my opinion.

Well honestly I'm doing this more to learn the programming tool behind this. Got a bigger project I plan to be working on and diving into it head first with these new tools was just not going well. Its a fair bit more complex then this. All I'm going to say......implementing usb protocols on a microprocessor then writing something to interface with it is about as simple as rocket surgery the first time around.
Right now I just don't have the funds to invest in a set of antminers. After my little computer refresh I'm pretty much not going to have any disposable income till i'm out of college. I also don't know much about asic miners and would hate to get the wrong units or pay to much ect. One day I'll look more into(maybe).
You know, since Asic's are becoming very popular, is there any need for extra software are are they all self contained?

They are self contained, everything is on a web interface simaler to controlling a router

all ya need is a LAN cable plugged to it, and a PSU with a 24 pin jumper on it so you can power the psu without a motherboard.

use this guide for how to set one up

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=702653.0

if everything is done correctly it can setup within minutes, I'm already signed up to a pool to use it with so I have the pool info ready to enter

0.002 you mean?  I wish it was 0.02 that would be awesome (It would take at least 3 x S3 antminers together to even get that)
according to a bitcoin calculator I used the S3 makes around 0.006 ($2.50) per day currently which is not too bad, about the same that I had on my GPU's before scrypt mining failed.

Do I look like a mushroom?.

All I normally do it set a bit more aggressive fan profile. If the cards are under heavy loads for long periods of time for any reason a I like to keep the temps around 70*C if possible

it will go higher then that, different algoritems will stress the card more then others, X11, X13, X15, and NIST5 will push the card to different temps

also Kalen if you really want to mine you will really need a farm of GPU's running, a single GTX 760 isn't going to cut it anymore like it use to, probably would barely make $5 - $10 a month if lucky.

It's why I am switching to ASIC Mining, I just ordered my S3 Antminer yesterday (will make around $70 - $80 a month), it will be here start of next week.

Well after listening to you guys the last few weeks even that seems hardly worth it. Antminer gets you 70-80 a month now. By the time you get it, and set it up that figure will have already dropped. Seems like the earnings drop so fast you won't even break even.

Yes its a risk I know, but bitcoin price goes up and down all the time, it won't stay down at all times like you are saying, Also this is only my first S3 miner which right now will take me about 5 months to pay off, later on when I buy a second one my income will be doubled and break even point will be faster, later on when I get a third one break even point will again be even faster, etc etc

its only when you are first starting out its a risk, but the more miners you run the faster the income.

Another thing that will help is don't convert the BTC to $ until the bitcoin market price is at its high peak, and don't buy the S3 miner until the bitcoin price is at its low point and you will be able to pay it off faster, when bitcoin market price drops so does the S3 antminer purchase price. Both of these will help you save money.

It's the initial startup that scares people away from bitcoin, but if you have enough patience it will be sucessful in the long run.
