If any one can advise on what I can do...

I recently installed the GTX980 SC ACX 2.0 on my rig. That night went fine the games played glorious and all so later on I turned it off at 11pm but the next day my wife calls me at work and asks why the PC is jittery and becomes unresponsive at times (Window explorer "not responding", Firefox becoming unresponsive, WinRar freezing and then unpacking then freezing again... etc, etc) and everything worked well the night before I installed the 980 card. Again the PC has errors yet no issues with gaming...(SO FAR)

The only change that did happen is that there was some kind of semi-large Windows update that installed itself on the PC.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest 980 driver.. even used DDU to clean uninstall it.

Could the card be causing those unresponsive problems or can the Windows update(Oct 16-17) be the cause? Please help.

Doesn't sound like a GPU issue to me, but I could be wrong. Were you wearing a static wrist band and such when tinkering on the inside of your case?

You might try looking into Windows update number KB2952664. It was released with the latest round of automatic updates, and is known to be somewhat buggy for some users.

Try uninstalling KB2952664. You don't need it unless you plant to upgrade an existing installation of Windows 7 to Windows 10.

Specs: x79 Sabertooth ASUS mobo, Intel i7 3930K CPU, 64 GB RAM, GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid GPU, 512 Samsung SSD, 2 TB WD HDD, Sound Blaster Z Soundcard, Corsair tx850W PSU.

Thanks. I will keep this in mind and will try it after work. This is the reason I have the Windows Update to install when I'm ready to download them. I guess time I disabled that and changed it's settings.

I tried "sfc /scannow" but didn't help. I did call EVGA support and they suggested that I switch it to the other Display slot since I don't have it SLI'd ... did not get those "unresponsive" errors BUT NOW from time to time I got "Display Driver" Crashes. So after I read some forums and one or two people have suggested to change the PhysX setting to CPU?
(see image: (not my screenshot) I did it so far after 1.5 hours of gameplay no crashes... I will keep on testing it BUT...
Is that recommended and normal? Is there another or better solution or are the drivers or card borked?

PhysX should be set to Auto not CPU.
