    Those are technically the same graphics cards with the same GF110 GPU, same number of CUDA cores, same memory interface, and Vram size.  Having a different frequency isn't that relevant for SLI.

    For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

    Question though why run 2x GTX 580 its alot of heat, a GTX 770 used should be quite affordable and preform better

    I'm guessing he already had one and found a good deal on a used one. Still a solid setup as long as you're not shooting for 4K

    I had the same question and found this thread on a search.
     
    Just built a new Ryzen 9 on an X570 mobo and moved my GTX 1070 Ti over to it. I'm not a gamer, I use it as a coprocessor crunching numbers on the cuda cores and for multimedia creation. The mobo will support three coprocessors and I'm on a budget, so adding a cheaper card now and another say in a year or so, is more suitable for me. That said, I have to keep the cost under $1K, so I want to get as much bang for the buck as I can. Can anyone offer guidance on what to watch out for when mixing different cards on the same machine?
