Coldblackice, you are correct about TRIM always having worked with a single drive. As for updating to the latest available ROMs, I'm just doing for that fun and to keep up to date. I'm the same way with drivers and software. Gotta have the latest. My x58/920 combo has been the most stable and best performing platform I've ever used, and I have not found a good reason to upgrade yet :D

trim is working in a raid 0 array with 2 256 Samsung 830s
sure it wont upgrade until infinity, but i see my motherboard working more reliably than before. its a nice stop gap until i can afford a haswell.

Good to know, thanks. And I agree -- I love pushing stuff higher and better and longer -- I probably go over the top doing it, too :)

But regarding this pursuit of Intel OROMS/drivers -- are there any advantages to be had in pushing them higher than 11.2's? Or is there really no benefit to be had, and instead, just risk of instability (because the newer OROMs/drivers are tailored specifically to the newer sets, and not our old x58's)?

i wasn't getting trim in raid 0 b4 cause i wasn't on a trim modded 11.2 so i got that now. plus it plays more nicely with windows 8.1. that os is freaky lol.

I really have no idea if there is any benefit to us X58 users. I never run any benchmarks to compare. It's probably safe to say that there is no improvement, although some of the bugs they fix in every new release might also include the older chipsets.

If you have the Classified 3, that would be the E77083.bin file in my downloads. Was that your question? The latest OROM is already included.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, the Classified 3 is one of the motherboards that have the Marvell RAID controller in addition to the Intel one. My modded BIOSes don't include any updated Marvell RAID ROMs, because those are not built into the BIOS.

Hallo folks!

I've tried many times to get TRIM to work in my SLI3 x58 mobo but it fails everytime. I don't know if the limitation are my SSDs (2x Vertex3) or my operating system (Windows 8.1 64). I've flashed various OROMS and different drivers but everything fails.
Any clues?

Best Rgards!

You want to hear something nutty? I heard about these two guys that want to build something called an airplane. You get people to go in it and fly around like birds. Or what about what about breaking the sound barrier or rockets to the moon or atomic energy or a mission to mars? Science fiction, right?

Yes i have tried, unfortunetelly trimcheck doesnt verify that trim is working. I don't know maybe my SSDs are the drawback.

Did you noticed that there is an newer version (v1.0.8.01) of the JMicron JMB36x Raid ROM?

Do you have a link? If I remember correctly, that version was mislabeled and is in fact older than v1.07.28.

Thanks for the link. I want to say there was some kind of issue with it, that's why I've been reluctant to udpate it. I don't think a lot of us here use the JMicron ports anyway :)

Re:New RAID ROM 2015/02/16 09:39:30 (permalink)
henryvitsUPDATED 11/14/2014 with latest available ROMs, including Intel RAID Option ROM modded for TRIM!

Here are the links to all EVGA X58 motherboard BIOS 83 modded by me with the latest available Intel RAID Option ROM 13.5.0.2164, JMicron RAID Option ROM 1.07.28, and Realtek PXE ROM 2.60. Mod tool used is CBROM v.198. The only BIOS I have actually tested is the E75783.bin file, which is for the X58 LE board. All BIOSes should work just fine with these new ROMs, but just like Dejanh, I take absolutely no responsibility for any damage this may cause to your motherboard. Enjoy!

Thanks for doing this Henry.  I had problems with 77 on my E759 a while back, so I stuck with 74 since nothing was broken.  Nothing in the changelogs of newer versions mentioned my issue or seemed to have great new features, so I wasn't too concerned.  I've been looking at the 6-core CPUs (including Xeons) lately, so I figured I should probably get the BIOS updated to ensure proper support.  After reading through all the different BIOS version threads since 77 (every page of every version), plus the updated OROM stuff, I decided to give yours a shot.

I updated to Fernando's modified RST(e) 13.6 driver to go with the updated OROM.  I took pics of every screen of my BIOS so I would have a record of all settings.  I flashed your .bin with the options to clear the CMOS and DMI data, write the BootBlock, and automatically program it (the exact same commandline I used with 77 before).  After rebooting, I went into the BIOS and changed a few preferences and set my BClk back to 167 for the standard overclock I've been running for years.  I basically left everything else on the default value or Auto.

Windows booted up perfectly.  I have access to all my RAM, plus now my timings are a little tighter and VCore is a little lower.  The system so far is working just as well as before, but with better settings all around.  Thanks for one of the best BIOS update experiences I've had.  I guess I'm getting old (as I don't tweak my PC as much these days), but the improved experience is tempting me to see if I can OC a bit higher without too much trouble now.  I realize you're basically just combining a few files from different companies into one package, but the end result is that the file you created provided me with a perfect experience, while my last experience with an official EVGA file was a huge pain (though admittedly EVGA's latest file may have worked just as well).

Great to hear you had a good experience using my mod :)

I'll keep them coming as newer ones become available.

BTW, there is no need to use Fernando's modded driver. I believe it is for even older chipsets. I'm currently using the latest (unmodded) 14.0.0.1081 RST, and it works great on my X58.
