I'm running 2 Evga GTX760 FTW Sli on my machine together with a EVGA Z87 Motherboard.  Is it necessary to use this?  Instructions manual is not detailed about its use.  If so, should I use a 12V?   Thanks in advance.

You're right about the manual not being detailed but I seem to recall that you should use it if you're running sli.  I would use a native power plug from your ps if possible otherwise connecting an adaptor to a molex should be fine as long as you spread the load on the right rail.

The plug is a 6 pin so if you use the one from your power supply you will have the right one.  If you us an adapter that plugs onto a molex you will still have the right one.  It's the same as a gpu power connector.

Please advise.  I tried both VGA card individually and pc work well with VGA at lane 1.  However I have 2 GTX760 FTW so I'm using lanes 2-4 to get 16x.  Following instructions I have connected the Auxiliary PCI Express to my PSU on the 12V lane (Red modular connector on my 1300 G2 PSU).

With all this I'm having starting up issues.  Sometime my machine will start and not show video.  Sometimes it will post A2/A6.

Do I also need to connect the additional CPU power?
Is the a Bios configuration Guide around for Z87 Classified?

You most definitely should have the 8 pin power connector on the top of the motherboard connected anyway.

Yes if you're running sli you should connect the second connector.

Alright I have the 2 CPU 8 pin connectors plugged, the auxiliary PCI-e plugged and I'm getting some weird lag when gamming.  I have ran my PC with only 1 GTX 760 and it runs pretty well.

When I switched from lane 1 single GPU to Sli on lanes 2-4 (to get 16x) I also had to disable and onboard vga on the bios as my PC would sometime boot with no video showing.  I also switched my preferred video to pcie.  I'm still on the testing phase for this, but I rebooted my pc several times last night with no issues.

I have a feeling that whatever is halving my performance is on the bios configuration options.  However not really sure which options should I move to improve my overall performance.

    Please advise!

Didn't want to start new post but do I need to power the additional power PCI-E.  I would but I can't in my case is a 4U server case and with the right angle connections are screwing me up also can't use the fan header either.  I will be using the CPU graphics on a G3258.  But I will have 4 PCI-E cards in the lanes they are 2.0 @8x SAS Cards.  I will be getting a 5th to run soon do I need that to be powered.  Do all the lanes have power or does that additional connection just give extra power to those lanes for Graphic SLI setups I would think I would be ok without it right.  Also I plan on doing a small overclock well medium on the G3258 to 4.0-4.2 do I need the 2nd 8pin 12volt to be connected as well ?

    Any help would be great.

Your cards shouldn't draw enough power to need the extra PCI power plug to be plugged in, but it doesn't hurt if you want. Its there for the guys running 3 or 4 way SLI so the 24 pin connector doesn't melt from having to much amperage pulled thru it. And as far as the CPU 8 pins no you don't need the second one plugged in. That is for extreme overclocking for Ln2 or DICE cooling where you have very high CPU voltages. On air or water and an OC that your shooting for you won't get high enough to need it.
