I have recently been looking up the X99 mobo from across a variety of brands and notice that most of the design for the new DDR4 ports only have one hinge to remove the RAM. I found it really annoying when I try get it out as I can only get it from one side and then pull it out (feels like it could also damage afew pins on its way out). Does the EVGA X99 FTW or Classified have these hinge or do they have two? I wonder why they moved to one instead of the two they used to have.

Although I am not not altogether sure I believe this is part of the DDR4 specification. Once you unhinge the ram it is free and no damage to pins should occur.

Most of EVGA board have dual side latches. This doesn't seem to be a major issue when removing all Ram, as it hasn't been much of a topic of discussion since the release, but some were worried (myself included) that with dual side latches, you will have to remove all Ram sticks per side, if one stick is faulty, because there will be no way to get the second latch unlcipped without the other sticks out of the way.

Yes, some of our previous boards had single clips since it was easier to pull the RAM out if you had a very long video card installed.

Our X99 boards are dual clip due to having DDR4 memory, as a single clip option wasn't available.

I myself own a single clip board. Found it pretty useful when putting it in but when it comes to getting it out I have to unhinge one side and sort of have to pull/peel it out from that side which I would prefer to have the second movable clip and like Scarlet-Tech said if one clip plays up it would be painful to get out. Good that EVGA still have two clips.

I have no issues with either or.  I find both to be fine.  Just don't yank the thing out.

Very good advice. Never 'yank' any component out of your PC.

When I  buy motherboards I carefully check that the RAM slots have been properly made with two (2) latches, this is the reason I hate the ASUS mobos because are made with single latch RAM slots

One way to sort out the collision problem between RAM slots and PCIe slots is with a layout where RAM slots are Parallel with PCIe slots, please EVGA engineers, consider this design

I am finding the latch on the gpu side to be very frustrating, even removing the single DIMM I have in.  I am using the 750ti with no backplate, and I really need something to get in between the RAM and the GPU to release the latch.. Hopefully the spacing is slightly better on the classified.

Either way, this motherboard keeps dropping Dimm 1, so I won't have a stick in there anyway from this point on.  This is the point where I get frustrated with EVGA and their silence.  I really regret not buying the RVE over the Classified....

I have a X99 Classified at my desk for a testing bench.  I have had a variety of cards in it, including 980 Classified and Titan Z Hydro.  With these the lower clip does not move all the way out, however , even though the clip will not reach end of travel, it is not a problem and you can still remove the ram easily.
I have the single clip on my Dark board at home, and I really like it, it does make it easier to remove.  The dual clips on the Classified, do take another step to remove the RAM, but it still comes out easy even with a big card and backplate.  I personally prefer the single latch design, but that is just my opinion.
Single latches was something we definitely looked into, and something we would like to do in the future, but at the time of X99 launch there was just not enough of it available to do a full production run.  I have spoken with Jacob on this and he is of the same mind as me, not sure if we can change it, but, it is something we are looking into.

I personally prefer the single latch design as well, will their be a EVGA Dark x99 possibly with the single latch design?

The single latch design on the X79 Dark is my first time using such a design.  Since the latches are on the top, I find it very easy to use and prefer that arrangement.  Now if the latches were on the bottom (GPU end), I don't think I'd like it.

Not that hard at all.  Just could be a bit of an inconvenience.
