I am looking to pass audio through SPDIF / HDMI.  In windows playback devices NVidia HDMI Output says "not plugged in".  I guess that may mean I need to connect an SPDIF cable from the card to the mobo?

There is no SPDIF cable in the box that the card came in.  Is it missing or does it not come with one?

Does the card even have an SPDIF connector (I can't see one through my case window)?

The card does not have a SPDIF connector.  The card has its own audio chip, negating the need for a pass-through.  The only thing you'll need to do is connect an HDMI cable from the card to your Audio input, whether it's a monitor, TV, or a receiver.

When I've run a card to my TV, there's usually another option in the Playback menu with the name of the device you're plugging the audio into to select(e.g. LGTV, Receiver, etc.), rather than the Nvidia HDMI Output.
