Like I said........I've seen my temps before.  Why don't you ask me what I am doing before you answer like a know it all?

Ok. Whatever.

We will have to agree with...
1) The temps don't work for you.
2) The cards are downclocking but you don't know at what temperature.

I was trying to help you. But you seem more comfortable with making misleading statements and with being combative. Good day!

Hey, I am not trying to start something, so just want to apologize.  With that said what programs do you think could be interfering with Precision X?  And where can I get a link for the old Precision X?

No problem. It's partly my fault.

You can find older versions here:
http://forums.evga.com/Ev...lp-users-m2212072.aspx

Any program which monitors the video card can cause conflicts. That includes things like rainmeter desktop widget with gpu plugin, afterburner, rivatuner statistics server, gpu-z, aida, everest, speedfan, realtemp, ...

Re: PrecisionX 5.2.3 Released 2014/10/05 17:42:49 (permalink)
So I just installed the 5.2.3 update and it's still has issues.

Was able to get the OSD toggle to work once while playing Alan Wake, then after toggling off and trying to toggle on again it doesn't work.

Also watched a youtube video via Mozilla firefox and was able to watch the whole video, then when going to watch another the video area is not loading properly and I can hear the sound of it playing but no picture.

Going back to version 4.2.1 until they release version 6 of this as I think they need lots of fixes to get this as good as 4.2.1.

Hi everyone,

I'd just like to say that if your having trouble with this software, just calm
down and be patient. They are no doubt working hard to correct the problems
and will succeed in time. I'm a bit of a developer on occasion, and I can tell you it
can be ridiculously difficult to predict every problem with every configuration that your
going to encounter. This problem can be exacerbated when migrating code from one version
to a newer one that replaces a large portion of its functionality with new code. Ie writing out
riva and incorporating proprietary overlays. Basically, when much of the code is already working,
betas are not usually necessary.

For now, there are other options available:

msi after burner if you want to control your card.
If you just need the temps like me, open hardware monitor, gpu temp, core temp ( all free), aida 64, hwmonitor pro and a myriad
of others will get the job done for now.

Besides, I'm willing to bet that ALL of you installed it long enough to enter their amazingly generous contest offering
a video card that costs near as much as my entire computer.

Anyway, thank you EVGA, you guys are awesome. I will wait content in the
knowledge that you will succeed in delivering the product I want to use.

I still can't overvolt on my 770 Classy with blower fan, but the update has fixed most issues.

Re: PrecisionX 5.2.3 Released 2014/10/06 00:14:34 (permalink)
Just updated to this newest version.  This new version won't keep my target temperature settings.  It keeps defaulting to 86 Celsius and I want to edge it back up to 88 where I had it in version 4.2.1.  Every time I adjust it, it will go back to the default 86 after a reboot of the PC.

I'm running two 4gb GTX 770 SC in SLI.  Everything else seems to be working, although not a fan of the font being used in the system tray for the temperature indicators that the monitor keeps track of.  And I can't use two different colors to differentiate between card #1 and #2 like I could with v4.2.1.

It is good to see the updates and bug fixes are coming in fast, myself am holding off for a little bit longer tho, i went back to the old 4.2.1 after the previous version almost drove me mad and that one still works fine and stable

Is VLC still crashing in this version?

Version 5.2.3 is bad keeps putting my voltage up over 1.3 causing GPU driver crashes. This was not a issue in 5.2.2

That's a very nasty bug. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm reluctant to upgrade from 5.2.2 with an issue like that. Thanks.

I wonder if that explains why the headers in my fastmail email program suddenly became bold, and remain so after uninstalling Precision? The names of members here are in bold too.

Temp fix for bold font in Chrome = going to chrome://flags and disable(or enable) DirectWrite feature, not sure if the font now is the regular or if its changed again, looks kind of italicized now

Agreed....I'm just letting them know what issues I am having.  The guys over at EVGA are awesome and I know they are trying to get things resolved.  Plus, I have no room to complain, as I have never done any programming.

...

So... how much are we talking here???

I definitely didn't enter the contest after installing the first newer bug ridden version of this software. I'm not a fan of promoting things I don't believe are worth using. Besides, all I would do with a Titan Z is sell the ridiculously overpriced POS ASAP (provided I could find someone willing to buy it), buy two more Titan Black Superclocked cards, an ASUS X99-E WS motherboard, and put the rest toward an i7-5960X. No, better to let it go to someone that actually wants it and would use it.

Now that we have that straightened out, I'm waiting for the working bug free version of this software. No offense to EVGA; I understand that these things can happen when working on coding software in new ways. I just need stable software that works as I run a lot of stuff on my computer 24/7 that I can't have failing on me.

So... how much are we talking here???

My specs?

Yours is better than mine definitely...

I7 4770k, 16gb Kingston HyperX (anniversary @2400), adata ssd, wd black (for steam)
1000 w xfx black pwr.  2x evga gtx 770 sc, silverstoneFT02, be quiet heat sink.
Gigabyte UD5H. Plus I bought the entire matching set of corsair gaming peripherals
down to the metal mouse pad. (That thing should last forever)

All told a little more than 3k I believe it was.

I built this machine specifically to be a hackintosh. Not to win any ribbons.
Also I agree about the titan z, I would take it for free, but never buy one.
I wont even spend the coin to upgrade from the 770s. They are fine for the life of this machine...

-Cheers

I meant: How much do you bet?

Sorry, I was just being a bit of a wise ass, not trying to compare specs and the like. The Titan Z is a pet peeve of mine since it performs worse in every possible way than two Titan Black cards but costs a half again more than two of them. The only caveat to that being that the Titan Z obviously takes up one PCIe slot instead of two, but at that price you could just about build a new computer that has an extra PCIe slot and outperforms it instead. Makes my brain hurt.

For gaming and a lot more too, 770s are fine for most people's needs. I only have Titan Black SC cards since I crunch for BOINC in the background while gaming and/or otherwise "working" on my computer. I also host a few Minecraft servers on it for my family, friends, and coworkers, but that doesn't use many resources other than a bit of RAM.

Anyway... Here's to hoping EVGA is able to work out the bugs in this software before too long so that I can enjoy using it.

It's disappointing to see that the system Arial Bold font issue is back just after one revision of fixing.  I'd really like to see EVGA hold on to these releases longer and do some more internal testing before releasing.

Please please PLEASE fix the "Font Size Keyboard LCD" setting for "Small Font"!
It is not working on my Logitech G15 v2 keyboard. It ends up using the same font size as "Medium Font". :(

I found C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\PrecisionX 16\Profiles\EVGAPrecision.cfg
I see where you are setting FontSizeKeyboardLCD value correctly to 0:
<add key="/Settings/FontSizeKeyboardLCD" value="0"/>
... I see that it is correctly being read as 0, and written as 0.
... But I cannot determine why it has no effect!

Please look at your code, and fix it! Are you passing that value correctly to the Logitech LCD applet launcher?

Major issues.

Process memory growing with no limits.  This was after only 1 hour or so of uptime.

Cards (SLI) never seem to idle, and even when no 3D applications are running, they can't seem to figure out which mode to be in constantly hunting between p0 and p8.

That's not the issue. Since release 5.x the devs made a few architectural mistakes, which they somehow refuse to resolve. It's not about "copy a single file", it's about staying off system-objects. People should be able to rely on a safe install, without Precision screwing up other things.

Even with 5.2.3, the way to go is still with Afterburner ..

But in the end, the solution is to copy a single file to the font folder. Regardless of how huge the underlying trust issue is, the solution is very simple.

Something that should NEVER have had to be done in the first place. If EVGA would test their crapwear before releasing it then there would not be as many complaints about simple bugs such as font.
