While this problem isn't happening instantly, it's very annoying when it does.
The problem is while i may be in Windows, or in a game, the GTX 295 suddenly stop sending signal to my screen, even when it's in Idle mode.
I need to specify it's the 1 PCB model (not the dual-PCB). I have enough power for everything, everything's plugged correctly. So i wonder...did anyone here fixed this problem they had with their own GTX295?
Can this be fixed with a BIOS/firmware update if there is one?

Does it show 1 or 2 GPU's in the Control Panel?

everything is shown and running like it would work normally, so yes, 2 GPUs.
But at some random points, idle or while gaming, i get this dreaded "no signal" on my screen and the only way to temporarily fix that is to press the Power or Reset button.

Try a different cable and/or another port on the card.

Here's the French one, which I think supports all other languages as well  Forceware 197.45 WHQL French: http://www.nvidia.fr/object/winxp_197.45_whql_fr.html I hope this helps If the driver isn't gonna fix it A Solder Reflow would be an idea, like the famous Oven Trick, it is well known that Geforce cards can be fixed by reflowing the solder back to it's place with the help of the oven trick, this is because of the bad quality solder which is used on these cards. This trick got famous with the GeForce 8800 & 9800 series, many GTX 200 series have also undergone this method, some cards lived about 3 years longer after this fix. If you don't trust this, you can also RMA your card, if it is not driver based, I think it's hardware related, if a certain component can't be reach on the PCB, signal loss can occur, so by reapplying the solder to it's place via a solder reflow, this can fix your issue. Youtube has many videos that show how a solder Reflow goes to place with the help of the oven trick Here an Oventrick done with a BFG GTX 285:

thing is i don't have any graphic artifact on screen, just this weird thing happening. This GTX295 went in 3 different computers (Dell XPS 630 board + Q6600, eVGA nForce 780i SLI + Q9550, Asrock Conroe1333-D667 + E8400) and it all did the same thing.
I also heard that this card doesn't seem to like Core2 CPUs much, but that's maybe just me. Also when you type "GTX295 no signal" on Google you get a lot of peoples who seem to have the same problem). But yeah i'll try the drivers. So far the GTX280 i've put on the Dell board seem to be ok, but there's a performance difference between that and the GTX295...

No, after installing Forceware 197.45 for Windows 7 64-bit (french), rebooting, i went to take a breakfast, and when i came back, the monitor was off and wouldn't "wake up".

Hmm seems like a hardware defect then bud, a Solder Reflow could fix if, but if you still have a warranty I would RMA it, the chance is great that EVGA if your board is an EVGA will RMA you a GTX 480/580 or equivalent a GTX 295 has a GTX 285 GPU and the ram of the GTX 260 but times two, so basically a GTX 295 is a double GTX 275 in such sense, so a good 75 to 85% faster than a GTX 285 or GTX 280, so that Speed difference I greatly understand and get I still have my EVGA GeForce GTX 295 Red Editions, these two I have cleaned, maintenance is very important for any type of VGA card, you can check my GTX 295 Maintenance thread here, it's for the Dual PCB variant btw: http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/1613434 Since you have the single PCB variant taking yours apart would be very similar as taking apart a GTX 590. You might find the defect yourself, but yer if you still have a warranty on your card my advice would be to RMA it, if you have an other system that is not based on a Core2 based CPU, try this first.

So is that true that the 200 Series cards tend to not like Core2 CPUs?
So far the GTX 280 i have here tend to behave, it seem to run just fine. So yeah...i may try the oven trick at some point, but i would need to buy some thermal paste beforehand, i don't have anymore of that.

My oven can be set digitally to a given temperature, and i found this info on the net on a forum somewhere: Baking at 200*C isnt enough IMO, the solder reflows around 217*C, so around 215*C for 40 - 90 seconds in a reflow oven would be sufficient, but in a normal oven, maybe 2 mins max then test. I know people have baked for 10min but its excessive if the temp is right to start with. Having the solder liquid for too long makes the joint brittle, and not hot enough wont reflow it sufficiently. So 425 degrees F (about 218.3 Celcius) seem to be alright for about 2-3 minutes, right?

but this video doesn't show which temp you have to use...
I might keep this GTX 295 meanwhile...and i'll maybe try to find another one that's working well.

Just a quick update, i don't have the card anymore, BUT i was able to properly test the card before.
I used a PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W power supply, and the card seem to had no problem at all, 60A on the 12V line. So if you still use a GTX295 in a rig, make sure to have more than enough Amps on your 12V line, like 50 and more, because those cards seem to be VERY power hungry to run correctly!

My 295 gtx just kicked the bucket today. Had it since 2009, an it had been running almost continually ever since I bought it. Last week it started to just drop signal to my monitor. Every time it did it, light on GPU would go red and stop working. A quick reboot would fix it, but it started getting harder and harder to come back online. An since the gpu is now in a server box, not a great idea to keep rebooting it. So finally changed it out, but have to say thanks for EVGA for making a card that lasted a good seven years!
