I'm looking to upgrade from my GTX 780 3GB SC, to 2 GTX 970s SLI, but I'm not sure if my current PSU will handle it or if I should upgrade the PSU as well. I current have a Corsair 750TX V2, and I have checked multiple different wattage calculators with results ranging from 600w to 1000w. So im not sure what is accurate here. Would the 750w be ok or is that not enough wattage? If I upgrade the PSU, I would go with the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2.

Current Build:

ADATA XPG V2 4GB DDR3 1866MHZ x4

GIGABYTE X79-UP4 MOTHERBOARD
SUPERCLOCKED EVGA NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB
CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX V2
1TB SATA III 7200 RPM
BLACK SAMSUNG 24X DVDRW

When I went from 2 560s to 2 770s I upgraded my 750 to a larger EVGA too. Better to be safe then sorry.

The 750w will work fine, just don't do any heavy overclocking.

750W will work fine...why would you jump to a 1k watt even if it wasn't?  If you want to be safe for overclocking go for the 850Watt. 1000W is completely overkill unless you plan to add a 3rd.

If you are in the market for a new PSU, this is a good list to look at.

As others have mentioned, the 750w is more than fine.  Your configuration will likely end up using a bit less power than you're currently using, giving no reason to really upgrade the psu.

EVGA SuperNOVA 1000P2 is great Eco Mode Welcomed, and smart choice for GTX770/GTX970/GTX980/GK110 models in SLI.
Except for Intel Xtreme 6-8 cores and Classified models than for SLI is better 1200P2, price difference is not huge.
I think now people will start to interest more for 1200P2, that's only Platinum Power Supply with 10/10 score.
I think that few peace of hardware are connected and need to go together as logic solution.
    Intel 5820K/5930K/5960X + GPU 1 Classified + GPU 2 Classified + SuperNOVA 1200P2 + Sleeve Set.

Kill-A-Watt meters will tell you what you are pulling from the wall. You have to make sure only the PC is plugged into it and you have to figure out the efficiency of the PSU to really know how much power your PC is using. Cause you can pull 1000w from the wall and only get around 800w to your hardware.
