WOW, 269K on Core 17 with 1 GTX980. That is 120K more a day than my Titan.

That's no good :-\ Hopefully they start to address Maxwell properly now that the next generation is here and get some steady Core units going.

All that said, the sooner Stanford retires Core 15 and puts NVIDIA and AMD on a level playing field, the sooner Maxwell can show its real power.

Yea something about core 15's need to change, the gap because of the bonus points is just getting larger and larger to the point that's its insane with these newer cards. Even if they just added the bonus points system to them to help them out a little bit.

Pulling less electricity for folding sounds like a winner for me but I'll probably go for the GTX 970 FTW when it comes out.

Your Titan gets you only 150k PPD? Man, you need to change cards! I am getting that with a R9 280X @ 1150MHz, that I got used for 140$. Sell the Titan, and get some R9s.

Your Titan gets you only 150k PPD? Man, you need to change cards! I am getting that with a R9 280X @ 1150MHz, that I got used for 140$. Sell the Titan, and get some R9s.
When you are getting Core 18 and Core 15's most the time then yes that is what I am getting. Plan is in a couple months if I can afford it to get a GTX980 or see if they sneak something better out to fight ATI's next launch.

I think the first few months will be problematic for the nvidia cards, like it always was. Remember the introduction of Fermi? Then Kepler? And now Maxwell, as folding on GTX 750 Ti is still problematic, far from ideal. But in like 6 months to a year, the driver support for folding will improve, but I wouldn't hold my breath too much. And this is all nVidia's fault for not addressing the folding with the same interest as they do for other apps. AMD is doing a much better job, at least for now.

Maxwell will be a very nice setup, but I'm curious to see what people form 750's to 980's have to say about the percentage of Core 17 WU's vs Core 15's they get on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. It doesn't take too many Core 15's to ruin any potential Maxwell has. Those things are a huge drag temperature and noise wise, not including massive PPD loss.

widsss The core 17s have dried up in recent days, which is not nvidia's fault. No they haven`t, I am getting only core 17 WUs on my 280X. Rather I would say is something weird on Stanford side when it comes to assigning WUs to Nvidia cards in general. I am saying that because I got a Core 18 WU on my GTX 460 before retiring it and was giving me like 1.6 k PPD! So the Core 17 WUs are far from dried up, could be a logistics issue at Stanford. I also lost a WU after processing it, it was staying at 3.00 s left and not doing anything, probably because of the same issue.

In the history of GPU folding, AMD cards have sucked. I'm really glad that they are catching up but I don't see the point in basing some of your arguments on the way a GTX 460 folds. It's so five years ago and things change fast. It's also pointless to come to an Nvidia based forum and attempt to bad mouth Nvidia cards.
Thanks for all you do with folding but come on man.
We all know Stanford is in a constant state of change and it will eventually all get sorted. If not we'll adapt.

Just got two brand new gtx 970s, so of course first thing I did after installing them was running F@H to see how they perform (like you do).
Currently at stock boost 1329Mhz, ppd is 259,000 on a 9201!
Seems like great numbers!

That`s the spirit! Actually I am thinking of downsizing to a SFF system and getting a low profile GTX 750 Ti, amazing little folder, at OCN they say something like 93k PPD at 1300MHz. I am not badmouthing EVGA, there is nothing EVGA can do if Nvidia is not working the quirks out, but with the research I have done, there might be something weird at work. people at OCN found out that GTX 750 Ti works far better on AMD platforms and with the 7.3.6 Fah client. http://www.overclock.net/...-ti-folding-numbers/80

You know how the estimated ppd with some of the QRB WUs can fluctuate greatly? Well, for a few minutes my two 980's were showing a combined 1 mil ppd! They went back down to 660k, but it was still pretty cool seeing such a big number.

Anandtech's FAHBench numbers support $ilent's 970 figures:  Of course, that could be very well be due to core 17/18/FAHBench not being optimized for Maxwell, and future revisions/cores could see the 980 making significant increases.

Yea, woke up today and finally caught my gtx 980 running a 0x17. Had a very present surprise. ~307k ppd with temps a little under 60c with my custom profile, and the fans pretty much silent at 75%. Only other thing to note is that its not actually keeping the gpu at 99%, so there's still room for more. Screenshot below

Well I'm doing *ok* on learning to overclocking this thing, overclocking with the gtx 470 was alot simpler. Sometime the gpu core just does not boost for reason, just all of a sudden gets stuck at 1127mhz no matter what offset I add. Have to hit reset in afterburner and work back up again. Think it has something to do with kboost....... Also don't know about "safe" 24/7 voltages for these cards

OK, with more detail
ASUS STRIX 970 OC
AMD x4 965
Capstone 750 gold PSU
Default setting on card show using asus gpu tweak:
While running WU 7621 (651, 0, 243) core 15
90 % power usage
1291 GPU
6000 mem
1175 volt
99% gpu usage
37% fan (nearly silent)
65 C
TPF went up from 2 min 46s to 2 min 59s with reduction in OC and PPD went down from 74K to 68K ppd.
Of course these are those horrible 15 core WU...that have horrible points and tend to run hot.
ALL THAT SAID.
Stock clocks do reduce wattage of entire rig to 255 watt
Backing out the 90% efficiency of the psu
IDLE = 81 watts
FOLDING =229 watts
So around 150 watts DC for folding...difference between idle and folding does include some CPU ramp up however.
Running a very efficient INTEL system, you could probably do better.

OK, after a test work unit worth all of 2000 points, I finally got a 9202.
So, running a $350 card on an old AMD system...273,000 ppd.
Wattage at 137 watt DC(delta gpu folding over idle web browsing)
This comes out to a staggering 1992 ppwatt
Yeah, point per watt and point per dollar, ...if PG can supply optimized WU...This is definitely the leader.

It's showing 1428 mhz on the boost clock. I have the fans on leaf-blower status and they're sitting at 50 degrees. The 1700 ppd per watt is off the charts, I think it's more than double what the 780 can do. 1 mil ppd with less than 600 watts is possible now. Does anyone know what the best BigAdv rigs used to be?
I get 1744PPD/w and average 485k PPD on my dual 12c/24t Ivy xeons @2.3. Now this mobo has 7 x16 slots sooo that could be a 3m PPD rig with some watercooled 980's
