Hey guys, I just built my PC today and and soon as I downloaded the newest graphics driver for nvidia and restarted my computer, my graphics card fans are really loud.  I tried restarting my computer and it doesn't really help also the fan speed is constant and does not drop in speed at all.  I dont think this is normal just because of how loud it is and it is consistently the same volume of noise. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem?

Thanks.

There is an on going issue with the some cards having improperly installed cooling fins that when the card is under load cause excessive, loud, and annoying noises that have been described as cricket chirping.  Normally it only occurs on affected cards when they are under heavy load and the fans RPM is up.  Not sure though it has been reported for a card not under load.

In your case, check to see if your cards is on manual setting for fan speed or automatic.  Use EVGA Precision for that.  Your card shouldn't need to run at 100% fan speed.  That is indeed odd.

    Have you called Tech Support?

I'd recommend you also investigate to see if your cooling fins are loose. That might also be an issue apart from your current one.

they dont make any weird noise, they seem pretty consistent and normal when making the noise, it just feels like my fan speed on my gpu is maxed out for no reason.

I'd use EVGA Precision and see what they are running at. Normally they should be spinning about 40 to 45% under general use. Under load they can ramp up to over 60%.  Check to see if you are in manual or automatic mode.  If not, I'd contact Tech Support. They might be able to trouble shoot the issue for you, if not they can start the RMA process.  And if that is the case, welcome to the EVGA RMA club.  :(

Make sure your card is seated all the way in the PCIe slot, maybe take it out and reseat it..Make sure the 6-pin and 8-pin supplemental power connectors are plugged in all the way and if you're using adapters, check the connectors on them too..Loose connectors or misconfigured adapters or the card not seated will cause the fan speed issue.

You could also try uninstalling Precision and choose not to save settings when prompted, then perform a Custom (Advanced) clean install of the driver choosing only to install PhysX along with the Graphics Driver, then install Precision again..Perhaps try an older/legacy version of Precision as the latest version has some fan speed (and other) bugs being reported.
