Someone needs to post 980 and/or 970 folding numbers here when they get one.

I'm rather impressed with the early slate of reviews.  Apparently the 980 outperforms the 780 Ti and 290x in pretty much everything, and it uses a lot less power to boot (165W TDP!).  Oh, and like the 750 Ti it overclocks amazingly well.  Here's Anandtech's FAHBench results:

They didn't have any 970 numbers (folding, gaming, or benchmark) when the review went out since there were problems getting it to run.  The 980 should clean up in folding; just how much is what I'm anxious to see someone report.

From the numbers I'm seeing, I'm actually more excited about how much less electricity the 9xx cards will use in comparison. However, I'll be greatly shocked if we DON'T see a nice increase in PPD on the 970 and 980s.

I had ~$230 in evga bucks from all my folding before . Now trying to decide if I should leave the gtx 470 in and fold on both the 470 and 980.

Yeah I want to see some input also.  I did not review the card we got and my  reviewer could not get it to Fold.  That was with the Windows client it would not find the GPU.  Probably a driver issue or the fact he does not Fold.

Does Maxwell even Fold with no problems or voodoo magic now?  Been a little behind on the news so it'll be interesting to see if it does.

Performance wise they aren't really worth it for what I got unless the 970/980 are pulling something ridiculous like 250-300K.

Well, FWIW, I've got a little Maxwell, and am about 50/50 getting core 15s (no QRB) or core 17s at the best of times.

So the theoretical numbers are quite high, but Stanford throws a hell of a lot of core 15s at you, which the cards just choke on for PPD.

I'd like to see the PPD of them. But I'd also like to see the B-Stock get replenished with some nice 6xx and 7xx cards with the new stuff coming in.

Ya know.. I love new stuff.... but I am not seeing an impressive enough performance gain over the 780 to make me want to retire it by any means. Certainly not enough to make me say I have to have it. Now if your going from a 680 up to this its a good deal and for folding the reduced power consumptions going to be a big plus.

I knew this was gonna happen. The cards aren't recognized or in that txt file, or whatever it is. Gotta head over to the forum for an answer.
I ran 3dmark11 a few times.  My OC'd SC 780s scored x9481. Stock clocked SC 980s scored x10940.  With a +75 offset for GPU and MEM the two 980s scored x11557. So that's about 20% so far.

With 15% completed on two project 9201, both cards are hovering around a tpf of 1 min 37 sec, which translates into about 330k each. I'm using a +75 gpu offset and pulling only 388 watts from the wall. With winter fast approaching, I might have to use my furnace this year since these cards won't be heating my house.

In conclusion, this card can compute.

Holy crap I might have to cash in my $80 Bucks and get at least a GTX 970 to replace my GTX 660!  I would then finally be able to upgrade my drivers and gain even more on my GTX 780's 155K.  Only thing I'm now worried about is the 50/50 chance of getting non-Core17 units on Advanced/Beta.  It seems it's not a near guaranteed thing like Kepler.

That's pretty nice, especially since it seems like it could be a fair bit higher than what you've done so far.  The reviews are suggesting that the 980 can hit 1400 MHz core without much trouble, and might be able to go up to 1500 MHz.  I'm not sure if it would be folding-stable that high, but it suggests one could approach 400k PPD on a single card.

It's showing 1428 mhz on the boost clock.  I have the fans on leaf-blower status and they're sitting at 50 degrees. The 1700 ppd per watt is off the charts, I think it's more than double what the 780 can do. 1 mil ppd with less than 600 watts is possible now. Does anyone know what the best BigAdv rigs used to be?

So maybe 400k isn't possible if +75 translates to 1428 core; I was assuming 75 MHz over a 1216 MHz base.

I'm still running a quad E5-4650 BA rig.  It gets around 1M PPD on 8104, around 920k on 8102/3/5, and about 620k on 8101.  It pulls somewhere around 750W from the wall.

So are you saying you aren't noticing any effects like what Toms observed here? http://www.tomshardware.c...0-maxwell,3941-12.html

Do you mean the power consumption differences that Tom's noticed?  I haven't investigated that closely.

    I did get a core 15, at 89k ppd.

Yeah, I did mean that. Sorry I didn't specify on that one.

I'm wondering if the cards really do turn into basically ~280 watt cards at full compute load.

So I am not really wanting to run SLI.  But would be interested in 980 as main card and run Titan as second card and Fold on both and game on 980, what do you think.  OR would I be better of just getting an overclocked A/C card and Fold and game on it an possible sell the Titan?

Currently on a Core 15 project (leftover from my GTX 570) and it's showing 78K PPD on that with no OC applied.
