Why does the GTX 980 look like the stock cooler that nVidia has on their website?

The 980 EVGA is offering looks exactly the same as the stock one. I personally am not interested in dual fans and I'm wondering why there isn't and EVGA version of the blow out style fan of 980 it just seems weird to me.

Are you asking for a blower style cooler that isn't reference? Right now they have the reference blower style and the dual fan ACX 2.0 style. a non-reference blower style would be a nice option, but I doubt they'll add it.

Umm, what? You seem to be asking two different questions at the same time. NVIDIA's version is the 'reference' model. The reference model is the blower style. If you want a blower style of EVGA card, get an EVGA card using the reference style. If you don't like the blower style, get a non-reference EVGA card. EVGA does/will have (depending on manufacturing and stock availability) both reference and non-reference styles to choose from.

The 780/titan/980 style blower is pretty effective.

i think he is referring to the 970 not having a titan style blower, i could be wrong.

Sorry for the misconception, I was wondering why the 980 was using the reference blow style cooler instead of one of their own like every other card they have released, it doesn't even say EVGA.

hiz fatherI was wondering why the 980 was using the reference blow style cooler instead of one of their own like every other card they have released.

According to Toms Hardware, the reference cooler (NVTTM) is supposed to be one of the best reference coolers ever made, so it's probably not a bad thing.   To be honest, I was under the impression most non-ACX boards just used the standard reference cooler...

Current PC: Intel Core i7 4790K, Noctua NH-U12S, Asus Z97-Pro, 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866Mhz RAM, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB, Crucial MX100 512GB, Western Digital Black 2TB, EVGA GTX 970 SC (blower), Pioneer BDR-209DBK, Fractal Design Define R4 + Noctua NF-A14 FLX fans, Corsair AX760 PSU, Dell U2713HM
