Hello fellow EVGA forum members,

I recently bought my lovely gt70 Dominator-895, the thing is pretty fast and I got it for 1299$!
I found that the refresh rate of the monitor is 60.02hz in dxdiag, I have another laptop "MSI ge40" which has 60.000hz, which seems just a miniscule-bit smoother "although both of them get to solid 60 fps", does that tiny 0.020 hertz affect the smoothness?, don't get me wrong, it is silky smooth, but the ge40 is a little bit smoother "although with ultra settings it achieves 36 fps avg."
in both tests I enabled vsync and disabled it to see if any difference is noticeable with over 60 fps.

ToastyX's super helpful tool "CRU" helped me so much fixing up that dell st2420l, but is it possible to change the refresh rate from 60.02hz to 60hz on a laptop?
I heard that it is impossible to do on intel & NVidia combo laptops, is it true?

Thank you for reading this thread, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I noticed that the nvidia cp has more options "resolution and video image settings" which are only present In desktops, my ge40 and dell xps 15 depend on the intel for that stuff, so is my gt70 defective?, or is it normal for barebone-like laptops containing the 870m?

Finally I was able to change the refresh rate to exactly 60.000hz using the "CRU" tool by ToastyX, uninstalling the Nvidia GFE fixed the CRU EDID override, and now the monitor runs on 60hz solid "my eyes are super sensitive to monitors, that's why I use a 144hz xl2720z" , I recommend MSI laptops for budget buyers, but if you have the $$, pick an asus or a high-end msi, sager and clevo are on the expensive side but they are well worth it.

i don't really recommend jumping over 60 hz on a laptop, even if it has a TN panel.

Laptops with switchable graphics have to have the refresh rates adjusted separately since they both run different graphic profiles. In the OP's case, he has a Intel HD graphics processor for power saving and a Nvidia GTX 870M for high performance graphics. You should be able to adjust the refresh rate via Nvidia control panel for the GTX 870M and then use the Intel control panel for the Intel HD graphics. If they are not in the control panel you have to seek out a 3rd party application to force it, unless you know how to manually force it.
