After a few years without an adequate gaming machine I'm back. I found a great deal online for an Alienware 14 with a gtx 765 2gb. It runs great especially with the addition of a ssd. It's good to be back now its time to get to work.

Any must play games you guys recommend? I love UT, SoF2, BF2, CSS, and AoE games. My steam id is: nitro808 if anyone wants to play.

Take it easy!

Alienware-14: Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB of RAM, gtx 765 2gb, 120gb ssd, Windows 7 Pro.

Avoid any battlefield games. Bad company 2 was the last good one in my opinion...

UT3 is still pretty good, lots of online noobs to frag.
If you're into online games, just forget about anything related to COD or BF.

Single player is thriving once again, which I am happy to see... The Metro games, The Witcher games.
There are a lot of them now, I've been on a break for about a decade but I'm kicking back into gear with my first real computer.
All my previous computers were hand-me-downs and cheap purchases from friends - and now I can qualify to belong to such a reverous forum :)

It might help people (such as me) to know what kind of games you play, could you elaborate please?

So far I've installed Planetside 2, Trackmania nations and CS:GO. I got an ssd but its nearly full so I have to choose wisely until I can add a msata.

Natural Selection 2, Rising Storm, and Insurgency are some of the better PvP shooters.  Insurgency is like a more realistic CS game, while Rising Storm is like a way more authentic and hardcore Battlefield game (no aircraft though).  Natural Selection 2 is like a hybrid strategy game and shooter in one, with more gameplay diversity than practically any other PvP shooter.

I played competitive cs:go last night and wow. That was intense. I haven't had that much fun since competitive ctf in UT. I looked at getting payday 2 but I'm not sure about it just yet. My 120gb ssd is full and I need to get an msata to keep installing games. I'll add those games to my wish list and see what im able to get when. Are there any new programs for gamers like Gamespy, not necessarily steam or origin?

Payday 2 is great but not anything like the other shooters mentioned.  It's co-op and very, very tactical and unforgiving on harder difficulties (which is the best way to play).  The amount of planning and teamwork required is immense, private co-op is really a necessity.  It has far more elements than other shooters: four classes, each one with many abilities which you'll get as you level up.

Thank goodness there are no more programs like Gamespy.  Steam is about as convenient as it gets, and having all your games in one place is about as convenient as it gets.

If you think CS:GO is intense, wait until you try the three games I recommended in my last post.

They all look amazing. I scrolled down in steam to find games that relate and the Arma III trailer looked good. Like a refined bf2. Any experience with it?

ArmA 3 is nothing like Battlefield.  It's the spiritual successor to Operation Flashpoint, and it's based off of an actual simulator used by the US military for training purposes.  It's a true PC game and nothing like your traditional shooter.  For starters, it's not primarily a PvP shooter and most PvP game modes were added by modders.  The mechanics are far more complex than any shooter outside of OFP, Iron Front, and the ArmA franchise.  It's extremely tactical, has a very flexible command system (squad command, or even whole platoons/companies/other large units based on the mission).  The emphasis is on two things: the editor for making your own missions, and large scale private co-op: be mindful that the main map measures 270 km^2 (over 5x the size of Oblivion, many times larger than any GTA game before GTA V).

Try ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead demo on steam since it's very similar and costs nothing.  It actually has more content than most retail games, despite being a demo.

If you want something that amounts to a refined Battlefield game, that would be Rising Storm.  It's like a refined, much more tactical, and much more authentic BF1942 except with no aircraft.  The newer Battlefields are quite terrible and dumbed down compared to BF1942/BF2/BF2142 and have no mod support.

Thank you! I'll check out the demo. I have a couple bf2 keys and 2142 key laying around somewhere. I lost the 1942 one a long time ago lol. What game are you currently playing?

Well I think BF1942, BF2, and BF2142 are all unplayable due to the Gamespy shut down.  Lots of multiplayer games relied on Gamespy for their server browser and other things, but Gamespy was axed and now those games are unplayable.  Modders might have kept BF2 alive but I'm not sure.

I don't really play PvP shooters often, though when I do it's either Natural Selection 2 or Rising Storm.  I usually play RPGs though.
