I just sent in my tried but true, GTX 295 as it finally started to fail.

It actually made me quite sad as I really enjoyed that card and while it had been a RMA card itself (I had a dual PCB board originally which was flaky as hell) this one was a contender.

So my question to EVGA is what do you do with the RMA cards that are failed?

Thanks!

Hello Engmus,

Sorry to hear about your card failing.  Rest assured that we will do our best to assist you with a replacement as quick as possible.   The detailed information can be found here.  http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/

Once a defective card is received, it takes about 1-3 days to process the replacement.  The old graphics cards gets tested and inspected, and the same is done with the replacement video card that will be sent out to you.  We first try to replace you card with one of the exact same model.  If one is not available, we will send out a card of equal or greater performance.  If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our 24 hour Technical Support team for further assistance.

The worse things is when no same model... That's maybe good for people who have old cards but Imagine if they want to give GTX980 for GTX780Ti Classified, I would refuse immediately even if GTX980 is 5-10% stronger...
And other people too if they love their hardware. Because of that I think manufacturer at least first 2 years should keep some number of series even after selling stop.

The EVGA warranty agreement is quite clear to everyone. The information states that if an RMA is made the replacement will be of equal or greater performance. EVGA will try their best to replace the item with an exact same replacement, but this is not always possible.

If something happen to my card, I hope not...
I would rather accept cheaper GTX780Ti Classified if no KP version than GTX980.
But I hope that will not happen and I hope if happen KP version will be available.

Hey Guys,

I'm aware of the RMA process, and how the exchange works if they don't have the same type of card.

My question is really what happens to the defective card afterwards?  Recycled?   Broken down for parts?  Etc etc

Thanks!

Hello Engmus,

To provide a general response here, when we receive a defective unit in for warranty it is thoroughly tested to ensure that nothing was missed during customer diagnosis and technical support assistance.  If the card is deemed faulty, the product is refurbished and recertified with our manufacturing/testing facilities. If the product is a success with refurbishment to EVGA's high quality standards then it is recertified and tested. If we feel that product did not meet our high quality standards and did not pass recertification, it will be recycled.

Hope this helps out.

Regards,
