A lot of speculation is floating around this days around price, specs and performance of these cards. The hard facts will be know when the cards are released, are in stock at retailers and reviews are up. Until then take all rumors with a grain of salt.

    Exactly.

Based on current speculation which I've gathered from numerous unreliable sources, in a few months I'll have:

A Broadwell CPU with 25% higher performance than Haswell, uses only 25 W and base clock of 5 GHz
    A GTX 970 for just 300 smackeroos that's better than a GTX 780 Ti (I saw the 3DMark scores!)
FREE WINDOWS 9 b/c some tech site said it would be awesome if MS gave free OS updates like Apple, therefore it will happen.

Crossing my fingers I can step-up my 750ti to the 970. I have 4 days left on it lol.

I will either find a way, or make one.

I will cross my fingers for you, but don't get your hopes up. If nothing else, hold onto the 750ti as a PhysX dedicated card.

According to Fudzilla, the GTX 980 will be $599 and the GTX 970 will be $399. I would guess more like $550 and $400. We'll find out soon enough.

$299 sounds a little to good. I would imagine that $349 is more possible. We will have to wait and see though.

I don't believe it. Nvidia has established price points. They aren't going to undercut their bottom line to placate fanboys. They're a business.

Yeah I'm not holding my breath, it would be cool to upgrade the 750ti to the 970 for my 2nd rig with the q9650. I'd mainly use it for folding/testing it out vs. my other cards. I can only wonder how the 970 will perform, the 750ti does 74k PPD with such a low wattage figure.

While the price was set at US $599 for the Geforce GTX 980 and the US $399 for the for the Geforce GTX 970, Nvidia apparently decided to cut it down significantly, down to US $549 for the Geforce GTX 980 and US $329 for the GTX 970. The price of the Geforce GTX 970 is actually US $299, but for reference design and since most, if not all, AIB partners will come up with a custom GTX 970 design from day one, the expected price on the market is set at US $329.

Time will tell though, if it's true how will AMD fight back. Further price cuts? Looking for a 290 will probably be enticing in the coming weeks.

I will either find a way, or make one.

28nm is established silicon... so high production and high yields(more as it matures) means lower cost now over the first release of 28nm silicon
if we had gone to 20nm we would be looking at $650 cards

Actually I think the price cuts were due to several reasons but also I believe NVIDIA cut their prices to better compete with AMDs recent price cuts over the last two weeks.

I am seriously considering on getting 2 of these. I still cant believe that they are cheaper than my 670s I bought. I bought the superclocked 4GB 670s for $480 when they first released and these 970 FTW version is $370! To give you a better perspective I spent $960 on two 670s and when you add the tax it will be a total of $1036.80. Now if I buy two 970 FTWs it will be $740 and when you add tax it will be a total of $800. Lets not forget that these 970s are two FTW 4GB cards with a aftermarket cooler I am talking about instead of two 670 4GG superclocked cards with the crappy reference cooler. Mind blown!! But can some one please tell me why are they so cheap and a great bargain price for price to performance?
