Man this angers me so much!! I just encountered this story again and had the need to share it. If anyone in gets offend about a US solider wearing their freaking uniform and doing their job, I say to you " GET OUT OF MY BELOVED COUNTRY CRY BABY"!! This is getting ridiculous to the point I see other examples with my brothers in uniform not being respected as well as not being able to function like normal beings without stupid lawmakers and officials ridiculing them as if they are just disposable trash. One example of this is last month a Department of Veterans Affairs training document compared veterans to Oscar the Grouch. I know a few brothers on this forum are veterans and active duty and I feel like something like this incident is stepping over the line with a slap to yalls face. Of course an apology was placed after a up roar so the stupid school does not get bad PR. Well too bad it already did. Whats next a firefighter or police officer cant wear their uniforms either if they want to enter a facility because it may "offend" someone?

Time for a lawsuit in my opinion or maybe a letter from his attorney to the school board and principal first.

I always knew that the US did not respect their men in uniforms... but now I know how far they took it

He may have taken care of it, but I can promise, if I am told I can not wear my uniform in my child's school, they will move schools, even if I have to move districts.

This was caused by the security people at the school and it scares me to think that these are the kind of people that are there to protect the kids.

Completely ridiculous. Political correctness seems to have replaced Respect in this country, and the school system more specifically.

+1.... That's right RJ!!!! Makes you wonder what the employee handbook for that security service says and what there bosses tell them, off the record, to do. Why are our trained military personnel so scary to them? If anything, id rather have them there than the doddering old security guard they put there just to cover their own asses and keep those low insurance rates. Your kids safety is the last thing they are thinking about. I am just soooo disgusted by how this country treats all our servicemen/women. Ill stop now cause this kinda topic I cant talk about and I really don't wanna get banned.  :)

It really shouldn't matter what the parent is wearing aslong as they are wearing clothing. I could understand if the father tried to go up in the school wearing a borat thong.

That is so wrong on many levels... Unless he was wearing/carrying a weapon, there should be NO reason for this behavior. I feel our military service men and women deserve our respect and support.

i think the guards that told them that should be fired and then i think that the men and women of service of children in that school should make 2 lines 10ft or so apart and they have to walk threw the middle looking at all the men and women that protect THEM so they have a job

Two wrongs do not make a right, training is what would help make it right.

Time for a lawsuit in my opinion or maybe a letter from his attorney to the school board and principal first.

The lawsuit would go no where.  Just because people join the military for a job doesn't give them the right to wear a military uniform any where they want. Businesses can refuse service for No shoes or Shirt. Schools have policy about what kids can wear and i don't see anyone up in arms about that.

All the militarization of police departments around the US. I'm not surprised if people feel unease seeing people in military uniforms.

Ya it does give them the right to wear it any where they want if your on the clock. Well you are on the clock 24/7 if your active duty. Anyways they have to wear it because its military rules and regulations so they cant just take it off just to please people. You do make a point that businesses can refuse you service if you have no shoes or shirt. But if your in uniform that does not apply to you cause you dont violate that "policy". But anyways dont bring the subject up about schools having policies on what kids can wear because thats a TOTALLY different concept from this. As of the uneasiness of people seeing militarized police forces shouldn't be scared when they see a solider in uniform. A solider does not enforce the law so no need for anyone to feel scared or threatened by one.

not to hurt them but like a wedding line when the bride and groom walk threw the bridge of swords....just to have to look at the people is punishment enough plus getting fired

If the solider was on duty sure he could wear it on the school property. Last i checked the military doesn't have have anything to do with local schools. Now if he was wearing dress blues, i doubt anyone would of had a problem with it.

A lot of people get scared for the stupidest things.  A person called 911 over someone holding a flag in a "threatening way". It was just someone holding a "Don't Tread On Me" flag while doing open carry walk in Texas. The general public is stupid, they think anyone wearing ACU camo might be a gun nut.

    Why such a specific number?

If you use a computer at night, check out f.lux
    Research: https://justgetflux.com/research.html
    Download: https://www.justgetflux.com/
This reduces how blue (6500k) the screen is and looks better once you get used to it - the getting used to may take up to a week!
Your screen will be "more orange" at night but it's for the best. In about 20 minutes your eyes won't even notice.  A white paper should match your screen, maybe play with the monitor settings to get it closer.

Actually, to clarify things a bit there are strict uniform regulations about where you can be and what you can wear when in uniform. The problem with the premise of the no shoes, no shirt argument though is that is a private business, not a public school. Private businesses are not public places, but public schools are. Typically speaking though, a person in uniform has a time frame to and from work where they are allowed to be in uniform as long as they do not go anywhere that might disrespect the uniform. If the guy was finished with his shift at work and was going by school to get the child or have a brief meeting with a teacher before going home they're still within uniform regulation to be ok wearing it in the school.

We have certain guidelines about wearing our uniforms.  We cannot protest in it, or even do things like the ALS ice bucket challenge (yes JAG just sent out a memo a few days ago clarifying it cannot be done in uniform, but you can do it in civies).  We cannot drink, and are advised against going to a bar in it, and for a time it was recommended to not wear it in public - not to offend anyone, but to thwart those targeting soldiers.  But there is no reason it cannot be worn if your coming from work to pick up your daughter and what not.  I have picked up my young daughters numerous times in uniform without any incidents.  I am welcomed there in fact.

The LTC will not bring a lawsuit against the school.  It was just idiot security guard(S!).  The LTC is better then that to bring a stupid lawsuit like that into the light.  We are soldiers and we are better then that.  If it was the schools policy, then it would be a problem.  This is just a case of operator (security guard) head space.
(LTC is Lieutenant Colonel for those who aren't Army acronym savvy - 2 ranks away from being a general)

Alrighty then.  We've gone well off-topic here, with both politics and a fun discussion on racism.
