VESA is always years ahead of HDMI as a specification standard. Nice to see them moving on to 4k 3D and 8k capability while HDMI 2.0 just only now is talking 60hz 4k. DP 1.2 had that back in 2010.

Will 1.3 do native Adaptive-Sync? My next monitor will have DP's Adaptive-Sync/IPS-PLS...

I want 240 refresh rate... That would be nice.
Until then, I would be happy with a monitor that uses display port. For now, I only have vga and hdmi (it was a bad buy, I know)

god i'd love it if my monitors would have had DP instead of dual link DVI, but seeing as they are dieing might just have to do so for the next round. Good to see DP whooping HDMI's butt again.

I thought it was do1.2a had a-synch. The issue is no companies are producing or announced plans for a-synch. might be awhile before we see this.

knightsilverWill 1.3 do native Adaptive-Sync? DisplayPort 1.2a supports Adaptive Sync, but it isn't particularly mandatory. There is a list of options a manufacturer has to support, but they only need to support x out of y options. To pass the VESA specification and the right to use the DP logo on their product. DisplayPort 1.3 will most likely have Adaptive Sync as a required feature. Not selectable but forced to be required. knightsilverWhat use is a standard if no one supports it? Man, Im really starting to hate tech...... Most European countries use DisplayPort on the high-end side of things. Having Adaptive-Sync would reduce the power bill thus be highly supported in the Euro.

Id like to see DP Adaptive Sync do well, and well supported. Depending on how things go, my next monitor, will be a DP 1.3 If anyone ever sees a 27"/IPS/1440P/100Hz+/DP 1.3, my email is.......... Laughs !

A bit of a chronology of things, but HD15 (VGA) -> DVI -> DP are all VESA standards that replaced eachother. HDMI is a perversion of the legacy DVI standard by the HDMI specification group and is seeking to fracture the market. The only reason why it exists is to be a port standard to copy protect digital media content for Hollywood in the consumer tv market. HDMI gaining traction on PC hardware is part of the problem, not part of the solution. Also manufacturers that continue to include Dual-DVI ports but not DP 1.2 ports are also part of the problem. DVI is a dead port specification going the way of HD15.
