Hi guys,

For a few months now I have issues with my GTX 580's, and I'm pretty sick of it .. When I play a game, doesn't really matter which one (e.g. CS:GO, Battlefield 3/4, League of Legends), my computer completely freezes (without SLI enabled). As soon as I enable SLI, I can play, will get a freeze, and I am not able to boot into windows. As soon as I hit the login screen of Windows, the computer freezes. I have to unplug one of the GPU's, reboot, turn off SLI, and put it back in. So SLI is not an option anymore. I also tried switching slots, no result. I'm not sure what to do anymore.. I don't get any error codes, it just freezes. No dump files, nothing.

Also, sometimes it's working for a while, but where I normally have 200+ fps, I get < 40 fps, or I get massive frame drops.. Which is weird behavior, right? So today I noticed the following in the EVGA Experience graphs:

Sometimes I have a good boot, and I can play without any issues..
Why is this happening? I tried re-installing Windows and Nvidia drivers, without success. I hope you guys can help me out.

PC Specs:

Mobo: GIGABYTE X58-UD5
CPU : Intel i7 950 @ 4ghz
RAM: Corsair Dominator 12gb
PSU: Corsair 850W
GPU: 2x EVGA GTX 580 Superclocked
SSD: Samsung EVO drive 128GB

Nvidia Driver: 340.52 WHQL

Do you have another PSU you can test with? I have a feeling it's related to your corsair PSU. Have you tried any other graphics drivers than 340.52? If not, try driver 337.50.

I did try multiple versions. I have had this issue for several months, unfortunately. I do not have a spare PSU with enough power though..

Do you know anyone that would allow you to test your 580's in their system? If not, you could take the your 580's to a local computer repair shop and have them tested there. Have you ran memtest86+ to check your RAM for errors? If not, here is how to do so...

RAM Testing: Run Memtest86+ v5.01 for ten passes to rule out faulty RAM. http://www.memtest.org/download/5.01/memtest86+-5.01.usb.installer.zip (You will need a USB flash drive to install memtest onto.)

Does that mean you do have a spare PSU but it just doesn't have enough power, and if so, what make/model is it and what model is the Corsair 850W?..I'm thinking it's a possible PSU issue too..If you do have another PSU, you could hotwire it like this, it's simple to do and no need to hook up a fan as shown in Step 2, just jumper pins 16 & 17 (PS_ON & COM) and only run one of your 580's 6-pin and 8-pin supplemental power connectors from it, taking some load off of the Corsair 850W and see if it works more better..The Corsair 850W may be weak/faulty..Otherwise, you'll have to start swapping out parts or go have things tested.

    * Corsair Obsidian 450D Mid-Tower - Airflow Edition * ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC) * Intel i7-8700K @ 5.0 GHz * 16GB G.SKILL Trident Z 4133MHz * Sabrent Rocket 1TB M.2 SSD * WD Black 500 GB HDD * Seasonic M12 II 750W * Corsair H115i Elite Capellix 280mm * EVGA GTX 760 SC * Win7 Home/Win10 Home *

    It's an Corsair HX850. I have a hotwire plug!
I do have a spare PSU, but I don't trust it.. It's an old TRUST (please.. Don't trust it..) ~250 - 300W Which blew up a few of my HDD's.. So that doesn't sound like a very good idea.. I will try to find a spare a PSU at a friends to test with, or I will just contact Corsair, maybe they can help me!
