Chair is something like this  And I bought it for 100 on sale in like may of `99 and something just broke so it's extra wobbly now. In that time all I ever did to it was re-stuff the seat as it was pretty flattened out... Sux though I can't afford to get a nother one for a while lol

my chair is younger but in worse shape lol. duct tape on arm rests, metal brackets on left arm after it broke off to hold it together. pillow for the back. 2in PVC pipe on the bottom to keep it from sinking down lol. the sucks of being long term unemployed lol. Ill post a picture later on it lol.

They do not make them like they did 15 years ago.
I have been looking for a new chair as well and find new chairs are weak and poorly made.
Best of luck finding one made of metal & good wood and not all plastic as what most are made of nowadays.

wow lol... That is horribad lol. So bad a new word was made :P Mine is NO WHERE near that and it's old!  You can barely see the duct tape from when I restuffed it. the back is the worst with all the scuffs and a few holes  Also, when I got mine I got it at Staples...

Geez I guess I'm extra hard on chairs or something. I have to buy a new one every year and a half or so. I'm in need of a new one right now actually as it sinks down and the arms and back are barely holding on. I think its mostly due to the way I sit in a chair. I couldn't do a sit down office job as I don't sit like a normal person

got rid of my old one earlier this year, got it for $100 in 98 @ Office Max. Couldn't figure out what exactly broke but it was severely tilting forward.
Got a nice one barely used off my work classifieds, $300 chair for $70. Dunno why I waited soo long its soo comfy. Had to read the manual to figure out all the adjustments. Gl in your search!

Mine is almost the same chair. I can't give it up. The leather, or whatever it is, is all flapy and down to the wood on both armrests. The part where your knees are is worn down as well. I live in that chair and I think I have had mine for almost 10 years. Every single one I have tested for under $100 just sucks and I am very hesitant to order something like that online without testing it.

Yes the hunt will be on soon. In the mean time this chair is so annoying!! I can't lean back no more lol. Far as I can tell whatever kept the hydraulic bar from touching the wood is what broke as my adjustment handle is now uselessly pinched between that and the wood of the seat. Which means I can't lean back because it's all the way through and damned if I can't pull it out....geesh.

I go through a chair every year or so. I did find one from Best Buy years back that was a gaming chair, meant to sit in for 5+ hours. It finally died, replaced the arms and wheels and then the bottom part that holds the wheels. Was rather frankensteined out with all its parts. I moved to a new leather chair again but the seat foam flattened out in no time. Then I discovered this gem. http://www.staples.com/Staples-Hyken-Technical-Mesh-Task-Chair-Black/product_990119 the mesh was what I was looking for. Nice breathability and nothing to flatten out for foam.

I might go mesh simply becuase you can't flaten it out, but it depends on how it compares. IF though the new chair can be unzipped (like mines backrest can be) both back and bottom, then I don't care I can restuff it with memory foam :D
I did fix mine t hough, kinda, I can lean back now. Used a dremel to cut the adjustment bar off lol

I went with a Herman Miller Mirra 2 most recently. They make awesome chairs that last a very long time.
I mean the chair itself has a 12 year warranty so it will last me at the very least that long since they will repair it for free if something happens within that time.

I do not think they are overpriced personally. The way I see it is you can spend $100 on a chair and it will break down in 2 about years. So in 12 years that's $600 spent on 6 $100 chairs. Or for around $690 (Aeron) or $730 (Mirra 2) you can get an extremely high quality chair that's guaranteed to last you 12 years and a chair that is super comfortable, more healthy and ergonomic to sit in and just far better in every way. And you will get to be using it for all those 12 years. How does the old saying go? Buy cheap, pay twice?

Haha guaranteed to last 12 years, i should buy one and see, i don't sit like most people in a chair i've never had them last, no matter how cheap or expensive i've gone. They'd have to stand by their warranty big time to get me to buy one.
