I'm having a problem with starting up and getting through the "Windows starting up" screen. I just built my new system yesterday and I noticed this problem immediately. After installing Windows updates I restart my computer but when it gets to the Windows starting up screen with the orbs and the flag it locks up. The orbs get about half way and the whole system will just freeze (no error code led posts). This happens under bios version 1.06.

I then reinstalled Windows (formatted and then deleted everything on my ssd for a clean install). I switched the bios toggle to the bios 2 selection and left this at the default bios version 1.00. With this version it gets to the Windows starting up screen, freezes at the same place for about half a second and then continues (when it freezes it beeps quickly around 4 times and then continues into the os). I'm really not sure what's causing this. The Windows disc is a legit copy and I do not think that's what's causing the problem.

I will also mention that every component is recognized and working as it should, except ram because it isn't stable at 2800 and won't boot into windows.

System specs:
Mobo: x99 classified
Cpu: 5930k @3.5 stock
Ram: corsair dominator platinum 16gb 2800 running @ 2133
Gpu: gtx titan sli
Psu: corsair AX1200i
Os: Windows 7 64bit ultimate

My money is on your ram settings.  Try to pull all but one of your ram sticks and manually adjust the settings to the advertised timings with the slower speed (don't go higher than 2400).  The purpose of running with one stick of ram is to eliminate the possibility of having a bad stick.  If you still have the same issues kill power to the mobo and try a different stick.  Goodluck.

Just went back to bios version 1.06 and running the ram @2400mhz and its completely stable now. Must of had to do with a Windows hiccup. If anything else happens I'll keep updating :)

Will keep an eye on this one. I am waiting on my board to arrive now. I hope to run mine in Raid 0, if I can, until I can decide on which M. 2 I want.

    Glad it is working now.

    Hi Neal
If this happens again, try booting into Windows safe mode and look to see start up items loading, as this can sometimes give a clue as to what component/peripheral windows is trying to load when it slows/hangs or freezes.
If the PC is networked it can sometimes be network log in protocols and network security, as my games PC is hooked up to our home office/work domain I often see this slowing/halting of the windows logo when I log on with a second PC using same user ID on the domain.
Worth a go and sounds like windows struggling to get a response from something in start-up.

Do you have XMP enabled? If you do, disable it and set all your ram timings, voltages, and speed manually.

No I don't have the xmp profile enabled. I went to memory tab and selected "manual" then I just selected the 2400 mhz frequency. Out of that list of frequencies it only goes up to 2667 or something, 2800 is not available. I have never overclocked memory before so I'm not sure how to manually set timings and such.

If somebody could give me a detailed step by step process that would be great! For example, go to memory tab, select manual, put settings in here, here and here...etc!

I would really like to try running my ram at 2800 without selecting the xmp profile but I don't know how :/
