Wow $888.00? I totally feel ripped off! I spent an additional $200.00 on mine.

Intel I7 5960x @ 4.3Ghz
Corsair H100i CPU Cooler
8x4GB (32GB) G.Skill Ripjaws 4  @

Meh, you have to expect that to happen. I figured it would, and I can't get Fry's to ship to me anyway, making it impossible to get anyway.

Typically you don't see that kind of price drop on Intel's Flagship chip. I contacted my vender to see if they would issue any kind of credit. I am guessing not, but it doesn't hurt to try :)

On ASUS ROG boards DIMM locker is only on top. 
And I imagine before some time board for X99 with horizontal DIMM slots only bigger motherboard and 24pin on normal place.
But such concept probably have and some flaws... should be think about that...
Anyway something like that need to be planned probably 10-12 months before launched. 
That could be interesting hardware.

The 24pin connector on the "normal" place you mention, this is a matter of what you think is "normal", I think the 24pin connector on the other side is OK, I don't understand why the people hate so much this design with the DIMM slots parallel to the PCIe slots
