EVGA_Support,

The on-board sound was working last night with no issues. Turned cpu off and then went to bed. Woke up, went to work and just came home. Turned on the computer and the sound was making a squealing/Scratching noise (playing a video and also on vent and through testing in soundblaster app). Ran testing on vent and soundblaster and when I clicked or spoke same noise. I noticed in window updates that there was an update from August for it so I updated it. I rebooted and have sound again. Started to run the video and turned vent back on and started testing in soundblaster app and now no sound at all. Rebooted and its back again and then I lose it again. Something is going on and I cant figure it out, it was working fine since the build earlier in the week. I know that it may not be much to go on but maybe someone has any issues with the on-board sound?

Thank you

I un-installed all the Soundblaster drivers/app, then restarted and then installed the new drivers from windows, it worked and then didn't work again. I then installed the audio drivers and app again from the EVGA CD. Still issues but only with vent it seemed like. I un-installed vent then re-installed vent and everything seems to be working again with the new soundblaster drivers. So vent is the issue and vent had to be uninstalled and re-installed. Why who knows... but vent caused issues that completely knocked out sound for everything.

Use an operating system restore point and roll back your PC to a time in the past before this started and see if the problem continues

Just called tech support. They said there is a know issue with Surround Sound. Conflict with Creative, Nvidia, Motherboard, Windows (Driver issues)....on the classified board. EVGA is working on putting out a patch hopefully in the bios update and Nvidia is also working on its own patch hopefully out soon too. Tech said to uncheck surround in Creative app and if possible in your games that you play until updates (if you have issues).

I have a similar issue with my X99 Classified.  Whenever I use surround sound and exit a game I've been playing for a few minutes, one of two things will usually happen:

    1)  My computer crashes to a BOS with message WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.
    2)  OR the audio begins to produce a scratching/static noise when playing any sounds

This does not happen when I set the audio device to stereo (just surround sound) and it only happens AFTER I exit a game that has been using surround sound (even though I can play in the game just fine).

The problem happens with both the on-board audio and my Sound Blaster ZxR card.  I also have a Geforce 690 card and have not been overclocking.

Hopefully will be fixed in the near future.

After some more troubleshooting, I no longer believe my specific problem is related to the audio setting or audio card.  I found my problem to be fixed when I replaced my GTX 690 with my older GTX 590 (so I think the GTX 690 was responsible for some reason-  even though the GTX 690 works fine on my other systems). EVGA Tech support has been amazingly responsive and just sent over a firmware update for the 690 which I never knew existed.  Will try to update it this evening.
