impressively ridiculous .... I have 1 friend who has it in PS4 , he likes it and describes it as a HALO-esque MMO style play.

The bar has been lowered so much over the last generation of console gaming. This is proof (IMO).

Half of the gaming news sites are saying it is actual sales. And the other half(which happen to be sites i find more reputable) say it is product shipped.
I am more interested in what this is for the players. Not about how many boxes some retail company has managed to stuff in their warehouse.

I enjoy it so far, but only because I'm only playing through it with friends. Without that aspect, it'd be about a 5/10 for me... just another shooter dressed up with some Diablo II style gear grinding. Maybe once it gets some more content, it'll be worthy of a higher title. I just don't see how they spent that much money on the game. I guarantee a good 7/10ths of their budget was marketing. It had to be.

It really means that they stocked $500 million in boxes into retail outlets. To also break the number down a bit, it means that means they did a run of 1 million boxed copies. That figure does not mean they actually sold anything to end users.

Wow, did it beat GTA 5?
Finally some real numbers from Activision i saw mentioned by a few outlets. $325 million sales after 5 days. Not sure if it beat GTA 5 after that much time. GTA 5 was pretty hyped as well and it did break a billion after all.
