^ What he said! I don't need drama, I just need working 64 bit supported SW to support the overclocking of my two EVGA Classified 780's. I was using Afterburner, but deleted it when the new Precision came out, only to then find I couldn't actually download it. Of course I said to not keep all of my Afterburner settings because I wasn't expecting to run into this mess.

That is why, at all times, it is a good idea to download the new program before uninstaller the old. You wouldn't remove the old driver and boot into safe mode prior to downloading the new driver, would you? Nope, you would download the new, uninstaller the old and then reboot to reinstall. Think of this the same way throughout the future.

As far as the precision thing, you also posted 4 days ago and I am not sure if you are meaning this occurred at that time or when you posted... This problem is over a month old, so why not do a review of other people's experience prior to even considering a download of a new(er) program?

Furthermore, EVGA is no making money off of precision, is it? Is it charging for precision? I would think there would be monetary gain for unwinder if there were money being made on behalf of EVGA, but it is a free to use software.... So... Yeah, I am not sure what he is upset about other than the fact they borrowed portions of his previous work. I personally have never been able to figure Rivetuner out, simply because I never attempted to use it. I like having precision itself and will wait patiently for it to be released again.

Also, this is why I am not an early adopter, after the Ti Classified Voltage lock and silence from EVGA, as I would rather sit back and watch the feces hit the fan rather than deal with having to fight to get things to work.

Well, in all honesty, you usually uninstall an old program first before installing the new one, and in all my history of PC use, I have only run into a problem like this once (okay, twice, Corsair's ability to actually release working Corsair Link SW on windows 8.1 has been an epic failure) . Besides, unlike the Corsair Link SW, the EVGA software isn't mission critical, so I deemed it low risk (and it still isn't really affecting my use). Usually if a download link is available it should be working and there shouldn't be a hidden message underneath it. As for the 4 days thing, it has been a lot longer than that. They took it down the day before I tried to make the move, so there wasn't a lot of drama out there yet... but anyway, lesson learned.

Read those two lines, from my original quite.. I even left the random autocorrects...

Notice that I said, "That is why, at all times, it is a good idea to DOWNLOAD the new program before UNINSTALLING the old." *corrected the uninstalling/uninstaller Autocorrect.* notice I did NOT say remove before installing. Yes, remove the old program before you install the new program, but why remove the old program KNOWING that for over a month, the download has been nonfunctional? That was the part where I said review before downloading the new program.

I keep a download folder on my hdd, with all original downloads. If I need to backdate, I can. Day 1 of this program being released, people complained. Before it released, the rivatuner fiasco was already taking place.

If one had reviewed before deleting afterburner, or downloaded precision (attempted as it would not have worked) then one would have their settings and could have waited for the patchwork to be complete. That was my point and why I stated it exactly as it is in my original quote.

Also, I am not sure when you attempted to download the program, as I figured it was right around the time you posted and I read your post (4 days ago).

Well im not going to link it because I dont want to get in trouble... but when i googled "EVGA Precision 5" i found a link (about 8 links down) to a German tech site that allows you to download 5.0.0. Seems to install, run, and looks legit. I cant play with it as I'm at work and remoted into my machine at home but.... if you're willing to download from an unknown source, then have at it. Just saying... there are NO guarantee's that it hasnt been messed with by someone on that end though. Use at your own risk.

I myself got a copy of the program on steam. Used it for a day and then it was taken out. You can get the program of some sites but I dont get why cant we use it straight out a legit version. Its made to be used.

Thanks to Sahafiec, I also now have 5.0.1 and dont mind sharing it either(as long as EVGA has no contention to this of course). Personally I dont care that it looks like someone elses work. I want a working product with 64 bit support and I see Kingpin's screenshots of his work records and he's using version 5. Derivative or not. It works and that's all that I care about.

So in essence, if you need a copy, PM me or Sahafiec. We dont mind sharing until (IF) we get the no-go from EVGA

I can only agree houkom, we the user use such products on our own risk anyway.
so let the one who want to use just do so.
still I would be glad to read an admin statement on the link sharing topic.

I am not sure what you are upset about. You can install Precision from the CD which came with your EVGA card. Or you can download this newest Precision X 15 version from some other site (search Google). Move along; nothing to see here.

Yes, stop supporting great customer service and very nice hardware, because the free software isn't what you want... Totally makes sense.

It's so hard for people to. Do the simple things in life. I used to complain about EVGA and bios updates, because they were truly having an effect on everything, and I couldn't change them like you can by using MSI afterburner.... But, then I got smart and while I was applying some thermal paste to my graphics cards, I installed a little common sense into my brain. It works so much better when we let professionals handle professional things and the others sit in the corner and complain about free stuff.

Aside the fact that EVGA still hasn't sincerely apologized to Unwinder and bought him a new car and a house for stealing his work with no shame, I wanted to report that the latest EVGA Precision X 5.0.1 BLOWS! It won't even let me play BF4 as it makes it run at 4-5fps. Then I close the program and BF4 runs great again. With version 4.2.1, BF4 runs just fine, but PunkBuster detects it as a potential cheating tool (How ironic when you consider blatant RivaTuner theft?).

Luckily, MSI AfterBurner 4.0.0 release candidate is out soon. You can check out some of its features running with EVGA Precision X 5 SKIN - LOLOLOLOLOL  - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_sCItCEbEM . In all honesty, Precision X 5 skin should be free and be adopted by every RivaTuner tool out there because of EVGA can just steal anything it wants, then anyone should steal from EVGA.

I thought the entire computer industry was built on people stealing from other people.   Of course that doesn't mean it's alright by any means, but it's almost disturbing to see people get so worked up over one incident while remaining indifferent to dozens more elsewhere.  Two wrongs don't make a right, and saying people should steal from EVGA because they stole from someone else wipes out any credibility you may have had, and eliminates any chance of gaining respect.  I'd expect a statement like that from a 2nd or 3rd grader...maybe a 4th.

Unluckily, MSI doesn't hold a candle to either EVGA or Asus quality both in terms of product or support.   Although I'm currently using an MSI motherboard, (have to give different vendors a shot now and then), my next build I'm back with Asus, and still with EVGA, probably until either decide quality is no longer a priority.

I use version 4.2.1 and BF4 plays fine, Punkbuster paying it absolutely no mind whatsoever.

Have doubt that the software was in house. It take so long to just change the look of the interface . I few bugs that it. Why it take so long for the new version ?

Re: EVGA PrecisionX 15 Update 2014/09/04 19:31:35 (permalink)
Does anyone know of some other program I can download to do the same things as PrecisionX? This is my first PC that even has a graphics card. I went with the EVGA 780 TI dual classified, and the main reason I even went with EVGA was because I liked the look. (seemed to be a pretty easy to use interface) Now I don't know what to do!!! :-/

besides PresicionX there is also MSI Afterburner you can use, just try both and decide which you like more.

Download link is not working ... please resolve it ASAP :)

Maybe I was a bit unclear... so on the page of Precision X 15 I press the download button and I get the statement and no download.

Has this application been removed?

Regards,
