WWE (wwe.com, works with Roku) Yes they got the old dog on Wrestle Mania.
ABC and CW do have .com/IP's for the Shows we watch. Prob more Networks doing this?

I'm calling and cutting the cord on Friday. Antenna mounted and ready to go. Upping my DSL to 24 down, will try to get 2-3 up too while I'm at it (cable isn't so great in my rural community).
I already have my gaming PC ready to use as a DVR. Xbox 360 is now free to stream with a Silver account and works well (hardwired) with WMC.

For OTA DVR, I was thinking of getting one of these also along with a USB flash drive or external HDD:

Netflix has a lot of older shows and movies. Usually the first of the month they change their list of movies. Occasionally they have a recent movie up. A few months ago "World War Z" was available.
Hulu has newer shows. I did get mad at them recently because they showed that "Deadliest Catch" was a show on their site, but unfortunately it is just clips from the show, not full episodes.
Redbox isn't too bad of a deal for $8 per month, but I don't know their library. http://www.redbox.com/streaming
Most networks have streaming of their shows up within 3 days (sometimes 1 week), but aren't up longer than a month. Occasionally they will put up the whole last season so you can get caught up, or get started on a new show. Some of their classic shows are available for streaming (CBS: Family Ties, I love Lucy, Star Trek, Twilight Zone).

I will try Amazon Prime also.

There are so many shows on my list of things to watch, and games to play (never finished a lot of games). Not enough time. All of this combined is cheaper than my $100 extra per month for DISH.

I hear XBMC is very good. There's a company where I buy parts from (business and personal) and they did a comparison between several XBMC boxes and found out one that stands out from the rest. Information can be found at http://aadroid.net.

You could always just install XBMC on the OS of your choice and go from there.

Hope you're happy with what you select - the streaming services do look rather nice.

If it makes you feel any happier, my colleague lives on the outskirts of a large town, and if they are really lucky their ADSL connection (fibre not available) will go at a whopping ... 2Mb/s (down).  I'm slightly more fortunate in so far as I get 21Mb/s down, but only 0.4Mb/s up (which is a minor annoyance when sending e-mails, but a right pain when you're uploading 36MP images for printing!).

Some services like Netflix will let you browse their movie and TV show catalogs just to see what they have even if you aren't a customer. I was frankly surprised by a lot of things Netflix didn't have, the catalog was pretty spotty on TV seasons. You both should draw up a shortlist and see how much of it any service actually has before signing up!

I cut the cord myself early this year, got tired of the formerly free box having another $5 tacked onto it in monthly fees every six months. I don't regret it at all.

I did it last month and bought a Roku2 (I still have SD TV) and I haven't looked back.  I tried XBMC and liked it, the remote is especially nice, but Roku is cheaper and XBMC doesn't support Netflix.  That combined with the fact that computers with SD outputs are hard to come by made the decision for me.

    Thanks for the input guys.

We use Amazon Prime/Downloads, I havent seen any support other than Windows for Amazon?

Planning a Lite Steam_Box/HTPC for the TV, will be close to Xmas for that build.
Here's a crappy pic, of the shell, Ill be using:

On a side note, The wife and I just ordered T-Mobile sim cards. We only get 2G in our local area, bu use wifi for data anyways. I might post a thread on the T-Mobile/phones as well, if anyone is interested. Two T-Mobile cell lines for $80 vs the $100-$120 we were doing with ATT Gophones, we havent done contracts in over two years now.

Roku does amazon prime instant. And if you have a DLNA server you can stream your downloaded movies as well.

Dint think Amazon worked that way?  What Player would you use? I looked into doing this with the Roku, but Amazon Player dosent support streaming  local media?

Roku has a built in DLNA music/video/photo player app. It also has a prime instant app but I've never tried it.
