Put my z06 on the dyno today finally. pretty much what i thought but more power. car has a stock cam in it. This is with a cold air intake, headers and X pipe, underdrive pulley and harmonic balancer. everything else is stock from what i can tell. Now i know where i need to go mods wise. Next up, Heads, cam, intake and throttle body.

That is at the real wheels, right? that's pretty respectable.
Did you put a fluid dampner or something on?
Would a hyper chip or something help you?

car has a ASP harmonic balancer underdrive pulley combo on it. and yes the power is to the back tire.

this can will get tuned again through the ECU so no need for a chip. i have a good idea what parts im going to put on it now. car still has the stock exhaust mufflers on it too. lol

I'm more into torque then horsepower,, your next mod should be rear gears if you have not already upgrade to make that torque more useful on hole shots as the engine will be in the torque band faster and rpm quicker. 4:10/4:56 will feel like NOS

The way the M12 is geared it is already like having 3.90 differential gears. Actually having 3.90 or 4.10 gears in a Z06 would be nice....but would be like $3k as last I checked you need an entire custom carrier and can't just swap the ring and pinion....unless this has changed in recent times. 4.56 would be way too much gear.

Re: Got a few Dyno pulls today. 2014/09/01 17:50:35 (permalink)
i can get en entire rebuilt rear to handle more power for way less then 3k. you can swap the gears. rpm transmission has them and east coast supercharging has them also. ECS has the spool kit i want which is way cheaper then a posi. and yes you can street drive a full spool no issues. ive done it for many years. yukon gear has the ring and pinion for the stock rears also but you need special tools to change them. but you can buy them seperately.

the way the z06 rear is setup its pretty stout, same with the trans. they were upgraded from the factory as they were supposed to be factory track cars.

i have drag radials on it already and with the tire diameter 4:11 gears would be a bit much. 3:73 gears should be perfect with whatever cam i go with which will probably be a solid roller cam. not much into hydraulic roller cams and higher rpm. not my cup of tea.

next upgrades will be heads, cam, intake manifold, lifters and throttle body. they she should open up enough for another 100rwhp with no problems. if i tear into the bottom end and do pistons and rods i could go alot higher then that on motor.

A stock C5 Z06 makes 404HP at the crank. If you assume ~15% drivetrain loss, that ends up about 344HP at the wheels. Roller dynos measure at the wheel, so ~380 is pretty darn good for the mods he has.

yea all that will be had. just gonna iron out the last little details on all i wanna put in the motor. not even gonna play games with flycutting the pistons ect. id rather just rebuild the shortblock and bolt on a top end. only problem i have is if i want to use the rods i already have or not. and order the custom pistons and crank i need, or settle for off the shelf parts. which i would rather not do.

My dream mod car would be a Lotus Exige S, torn apart and rebuilt with an Audi V10, twin turbos and Porsche disk brakes. Until I can afford it I have no plans to mod any car beyond a new sound system.

Though I have to say, I do quite like the idea of a sleeper V6, you also get better mileage and lower insurance I believe. I may be wrong there though.

Oh that sucks I was under the impression it varied based on cylinders, HP, etc.
