I have seen multiple (over 100) threads in various forums, about low performance 780 (and other high-end cards) sli setups. The cards seems to "idle" at 30% and dont get any higher than 60% in games. CPU dont seem to get above 40% either. There are plenty suggestions to solutions, but no one seems to be able to pinpoint the problem. Most users complains about low fps (20 to 30) in games, which I also encounter. I know it is not the PSU either (runs a 860i) and all related drivers has been un- and reinstalled. I think Ive tried evrything - but would welcome new ideas.

Do you have nvidia GeForce experience installed? If you do, uninstall it. Post your Heaven and future mark scores.

You also need to install either MSI afterburner or EVGA precision. You'll need to enable OSD of the gpu usage so you can observe how much your video cards are working. They should be 96% and higher.

Those scores are really low. Run the test on just one monitor and don't even plug in the other one. Here's me thread with the problem with geforce experience.  You should be over 100 fps in Heaven.

Unhook then other monitor and test the single main monitor with Heaven and Firestrike and report back.

Thanks for trying. But I decided to start all over - no image, nooooo - format (SSD) - install win 8,1 - then updates, then norton anitvirus, then benzmarkprograms.
Ohhhh, what a relief: 3D-MARK11: 18302, Cinebench: 150 fps, Heaven 92 fps - GAMES 100+ fps
All that remains to be installed is: EVGA PrecisionX(15) and ASUS AISuite3.
My guess? - Its ASUS AISuite3, when used to auto OC!! - but it remains to be proven, I know, I know. But I have a hunch!!
I will be back...

Never use ASUS Ai Suite, over many years of ASUS motherboards,
Ai suite has never been anything BUT trouble when I used it.
Apart from Ai suite being crappy, ASUS MB's are great.

So far I´ve installed and used EVGA Precision15, OC´ed both cards - and evrything works like a charm, benzmarks great. Im going to enjoy my "new" PC a couple of days (back to work) and then I might install ASUS Ai suite - or maybe not. But I know, I kinda own them to try.... Thanks again for Your input guys. Oh, and if anyone tries to go through the same as I, in order to solve the same problem - pls inform if Youve installed the ASUS suite too! I cant wait to hear the result... And by the way - this ASUS Maximus Hero VII board works great.

Ok, finally got back to the issue - is there a problem with Asus Suite 3? I installed, tested, and no problems, appart from the normal issues - as it is much better to OC in manual.
So now Im back to were I began, exept evrything is running perfect. All this testing and reinstalling did not give me a clue as to what was the reason for the slow performance of the SLI installation.
Sorry about that guys.

Were you before or are you now running PrecX and AiSuite at the same time?  If so, that "can" cause issue's as those programs will poll some of the same sensors.

Also, you say now you're using the same setup and config as before, but without the issue(s)?  After you did your OS format, did you install Geforce Experience this time around?  If not, that could have been your issue before you formatted and began fresh.  Once you install GFE and allow it to optimize any of your games, it makes changes to your games config files.

As a side note, I'm running AI Suite 3 and PrecisionX side by side (both windows open at once) - never had any issues with them.

Never installed Geforce Experience though.

I am running PrecX and AiSuite at the same time - and Geforce Experience is installed and used - HOWEVER - I have not used GE to optimize gamesettings!! - One day - when I dont know what else to do (need my maschine optimized for work at the moment) - I will use GE to optimize my games, and see what happens. Thanks for the hint.

JayzTwoCent has a video were he encounter same problem as this post. Low perfomance in SLI (3 way). He then goes on to explain, that it had to do with the OC of the CPU and Memory - and that the OC should be performed in the right order - dont say which one though:)

Re: EVGA GTX 780 SLI low performance 2014/10/05 09:30:14 (permalink)
Same problem here, terrible performance in Valley and other benchmarks with 3-way SLI. In Valley I get about 3000 points (70-ish FPS) at 2560x1440 with an X99 board and 5960X. Used to get 4200 points (100+ FPS) with X79 and 3960X using the same settings and video cards. Saw that JayzTwoCents' video, I wish he'd elaborate on a fix. I'm not overclocking anything so that is not my problem. Temps are all very good and no throttling. GPU usage is low across all GPUs (not even close to 90%) when running the benchmarks. The FPS fluctuations in Valley are insane and make no sense whatsoever (sometime the benchmark will start at 120fps and another time at 60fps, same temps and everything else). I don't have GeForce Experience installed so I don't think that is the cause.

cant help u, appart from the above - but I would try to reinstall OS and MB software. Looking forward to hear that u solved the "much annoring" problem. Sounds like one big hammer of a PC thoug - congratulate on that. Sure u will get it solved. Dont know Your MB and Gtx, but have You tried to set one of the cards as dedicated to PhysX - seeen that as a solution else were (dont know were though). Im just trying to give what I have - so bear over with me.

Did a whole OS re-install and all that jazz, no difference at all. I think I'll have to wait for either a BIOS update or new Nvidia drivers. Cards are Titans BTW and the motherboard is Asus Rampage V Extreme.
