I just finished putting together a brand new, custom built system. Here's what it's got!
Intel Core i7-4790K CPU
ASUS Z97-AR mobo
Ultra 750W PSU
WD 1TB HDD
16GB (2x 8GB) PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 Patriot RAM
EVGA NVIDIA GTX 660 SC Signature 2 GFX 2GB GDDR5 RAM card
The case sports two 120mm fans, and I have an Arctic Freezer 13 CO CPU cooler.
The problem:
While playing Batman: Arkham Origins and Dishonored, my system crashes after 10 to 15 mins with the "lovely" BSOD giving the message, "The system has encountered an uncorrectable hardware error." (Code 0x00000124)
Doing some research, I re-seated my hardware and tried some other things, but the issue continues.
I've been able to play through the latest chapter of "The Walking Dead: Season 2" with no problems, so apparently graphics heavy games seem to send the system over the edge. This leads me to believe that the bulk of the problem lies with my graphics card.
My first thought is that the GPU could be overheating. I have seen the temp go as high as 75deg celsius when performing some benchmarking, but I haven't yet been able to prove this as being the issue.
Anybody out there have some thoughts on this?
