Hi everyone,

Windows won't start properly as soon as I install the graphics driver for my GTX 460. Is my card dead? Windows works if I uninstall the drivers in safe mode, but of course I have (Word deleted for foul language) performance. It just suddenly stopped working this morning. :(

I have a GTX 460 running on a Asus P6X58D-E motherboard.

Please help,
Thanks

Best way to confirm if the card is dead is to test it in another system.

I took my old 8800 and put it in my system and it works fine. I haven't tried putting my 460 in my old system though...

I've read flashing the card is a thing, do you think it could help?

Flashing could help if the vBIOS on the card somehow got corrupted. Test the card in your old system first before attempting to flash the card.

Ok, so the card seems to work fine in my old system. Here are the differences I can think of:
    • My old system is running pretty old GeForce drivers (258.96)
    • My old system is connected through DVI-to-HDMI to a home theater receiver running 1920x1080 (where my main system has 2x24" LCD monitor running 1920x1200 and 1200x1920)
Well, that's pretty much it. Maybe it's the PCI-E port on my main mobo that's causing issues? Well, I guess it's time to try the other PCI-E port!

Well it looks like it's working! I guess my mobo was at fault. No SLI for me then!

Thanks a lot for your replies Sajin, much appreciated.
