SO I read tons of reviews and OC stories on blogs about the 780 Classy.  I am coming from a 5870 XXX and it had zero problems with its SAMSUNG memory.  One of the TOP things that I looked for was the fact that all of the tests I saw listed the Samsung memory and how great it is to OC and very stable.  It was 70% of my buying decision....

Now I see I do not have Samsung Memeory but Hynix??

hmmmmm?

Hynix memory overclocks very well, also.. I have 3 cards with Hynix and can get to +400 on all 3 simultaneously very easy.

*addition* all of my GPUs have hynix, from top to bottom (I am pretty sure the 750ti does as well, so I could be wrong about that one).

I have never seen a change in fps or benchmark scores above +250 range when changing the memory though, but can push well past without issue at all.

It's good that is not Elpida, they don't work nice on NVIDIA cards somehow.
Max what I get with Elpida is 125MHz OC.

I wouldn't worry about the different brand RAM.  Initial production run of cards had the Samsung, but then there was a shortage so had to switch to Hynix or Elpida.  In my opinion, the whole RAM debacle was way overblown.  I did not see anything statically proven to show that one overclocked better than the other.  Besides, memory overclock will not provide as much benefit as your core overclock.  Don't worry about it and enjoy your card.

Hynix and Samsung are both very good.  When people were upset about the switch due to shortage, it was because of Elpida memory.  EVGA went and started using Hynix instead.  You'll find that both Samsung and Hynix should perform pretty much the same.

Problem was because most of us thought that only EVGA hard shortage, but EVGA back Samsung and Hynix fast.
That was maybe worse for people who hit Elpida in maybe 30 days period. Even I bought GTX780 Classified 6 months after she show up.
ASUS and MSI continue to send cards with Elpida non stop after that. I don't know what was number of series but if they got some bigger quantity maybe because of that they use later on GTX780 Poisedon, GTX780Ti DCII I think one series, Radeon most models except Lightening have Elpida, R9-290X Matrix Elpida, but on Radeon cards they OC 200MHz easier than on NVIDIA. Why? Or maybe is different series.
Jacob talk here about Hynix and Samsung and absolutely same results in that time on GTX780.
Later on GTX780Ti Classified Hynix really start to shine but to be honest and 30-40% of us can 400+on Memory.
That's almost 8000MHz memory OC.
Important if everything work OK... I'm totally in love with EVGA GTX700 ACX Series, Classified models.
I'm glad I try with both cooler... Best EVGA graphic card series and it's really full hit because they decide to change little cooler type...

This is a fairly dead thread now... Sadly, I have no idea what the point of the original post was even about. Did he she'd a single tear because he wanted one thing? Was he asking a question with so many question marks? He went silent fairly quick, so we may never know.... Hynix for the win.

He was probably not sure about memory on his graphic and afraid that maybe is not good as Samsung.

My assumption would be that he was researching the card, and came across one of the older threads discussing the memory change when Samsung memory became unavailable, and was checking to see if that's still the case.

Of course, we'd still like him to post again to see if he has any other questions.

one question mark still remains in mind, we are quite influenced by the hardware reviews we are all reading.
after making our decision based on those reviews getting a card that's "somehow" different is just not a good feeling.

while reading about EVGA GTX760 I never saw one using Elpida memory but after buying I got one.
my GTX760 SC 4GB ACX is using Elpida memory chips, I'm not really sad about it but neither I'm happy.
as a customer I just want to get what I saw or read despite what's going on behind the scene in the production lines.

I assume NickNasc's thoughts go in the same direction.

To answer the question , I saw a few Video reviews from popular overclocker site and all of them Bragged about the Samsung memory and thinking that was why they were so stable post OCing.  Knowing my old XXX also had samsung I wanted to stay with what I knew.  Also I trust the experts.  When I saw I didn't get Samsung ram yes I was concerned.  After all of the great info posted on this thread by most all of you I am very happy with my buy.  Thanx so much!

The hynix for the win was just for fun. Don't get upset. That was my second reply, after you posted and didn't respond. ;-) it's called fun. Have some. It's free.

As long as Samsung keeps making great SSDs I'm ok with it...... I think. Both Hynix and Samsung are both interchangeable when it comes to quality. Elpida does fall a little short, but at the end of the day it's mostly within the margin of error. The real impact is ddr3 prices in the last 2 years. I got 12gigs in 09 for the price of 8 in 2014.
