As for my interest in G Sync. It will in theory give more life to my setup (see sig). I will be doing extensive tests with my 680s in single and SLI. And doing comparisons from 1080p (60hz) to 1440p (85hz, 100hz, 120hz, 144hz). This should help others with older hardware. PM me if you have any specifics you wish me to test on my 2009 monster build that still kicks ass :).

Keen for results, similar cards :) when's yours expected at your house?

I will have it tomorrow. At some point this week I will post a new thread with my personal real world findings!

Since this thread appears to be losing relevance quickly, here are a couple of links of active threads.  These include order discussion, who has inventory and where as well as a owners thread.

Order and inventory thread:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1455299/asus-rog-swift-pg278q-discussion-thread/7450

Owners club:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1509599/official-asus-rog-swift-pg278q-owners-club

The order and inventory thread is massive but the information is good.  The thread is also on topic.

I used the order and inventory thread to determine who had inventory and when.  They are pretty spot on.  The other thread also has tips and tricks for any issues.  I would recommend using those as reference posts, over this thread as the data is new and the discussion in ongoing.

And perhaps not overly moderated like some forums...

I put in a lot of gaming hours over the weekend...all I can say is this monitor is pretty amazing.  Especially Gsync.  No regrets here for purchasing it...

GSYNC FTW!!!  I had no idea though how much GPU/CPU power it takes to pushes games in 2560x1440. If I didn't have Gsync Id go back to 1080p.

Yeah, Gsync really makes it perfect.  I've had to drop one setting (Ultra to Very High, etc.) in most of my newer games to keep the FPS over 60 - 70, but even doing that, the games look far better & play so smooth as compared to my 1080P monitors.

So comparing the same games with 1080P, 120Hz, on Ultra, they do not look near as good as on the Swift using Very High/High.  I'll take the Swift everytime!

I got mine from here: http://www.shopblt.com/item/asus-27in-2560x1440p-144hz-rr-g/asus_pg278q.html

It was the most reasonable site i could find that actually tells you how many were ordered and back ordered in real time. Also the price is good.

Guess what... My G-SYNC board burned out already. Talk about uber fail!

EDIT: Fixed it.

Had to power cycle my monitor again to get the g-sync board to work again.

your running SLI you have to get use to alt+tab in/out of game to get gsync or vsync-on to work and sync up right.

I've been having to do that with SLI since back when I was running 690. I only found I had that issue with Vsync-on and now with Gsync. With Vsync off I never had to deal with Alt+tab'ing in/out of games.

Alt+tab'ing doesn't help the problem. Only power cycling the monitor helps.

Mine came in today and I must say....  I love this monitor.  Love it.  Gsync is amazing and the resolution.  So happy with it right now - I justt need a bit more GPU horsepower, I think.  That's coming whenever nvidia releases their 980TI OMG ROFLCOPTR BBQ edition.

Do you think this is an isolated situation regarding you, or is it a widespread problem? I'm starting to get really concerned as I run an SLI set-up and have the Swift on pre-order.

Sweet man!  I really like mine.  The difference between it and my old monitor is night and day - and my old monitor is no slouch.

But you keep yer hands off my BBQ edition!

Running SLI titans at 99% in every game I run, some games like metro 2033 redux dropping into the 50's FPS range.

I had no idea how much GPU/CPU pwr it takes to push 2560x1440

This just a typical symptom with SLI. Nothing to worry about. Gsync works great in SLI. one game I never have to alt+tab in/out of is metro 2033, most all other games I have to do that. Nothing new to me though because I used to have to do that all the time when running Vsync-on.

wow! 50's fps with 2 titans! I got dual titan blacks myself, so I'll probably fare a bit better. Still, I didn't realize 1440p would drop frames THAT much! I'm sure it's worth it though.

Yah thats playing with everything almost max out. 2x AA, metro's a pretty demanding game.

Totally enjoyable though since Gsync is smoothing that all out even down in the 40's still enjoyable.

Agreed, dustingg - and yeah, not many reviews out there give you a true sense of what kind of hardware it takes to run that resolution.  Gsync almost makes it irrelevant for me in all but the most demanding games.  I guess I could turn down some settings until the BBQ edition comes out.

This is the first time I've gamed at this resolution though and the difference is ridiculous.  Everything just looks so much...  Better.

So apparently my End of September was extreme worst case scenario from my retailer. FedEx notification for overnight priority came in. She's landing today.

The only thing I can think of is Asus headquarters near me is hoarding limited quantities and leaking them out at random here.

Can't wait

Here is my first post on the issue...

Sajin
This is what happened...

Fired up Metro LL, monitor immediately went black and said (out of signal), hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen, monitor signal came back on while viewing the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen, hit cancel on the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen, now at desktop, game auto minimized while viewing CTRL+ALT+DEL screen. I tried to restore the minimized game by selecting it on the taskbar, no dice, had to perform the above sequence again to regain monitor singal as the screen went back while restoring the game. Used task manager to kill the game. Restarted my PC. Tried firing up Metro again, fired up without a problem, noticed g-sync was not enabled (monitor led was just glowing white, should be red when g-sync is on), exited game. Open NVCP, setup G-SYNC menu missing. Uninstalled the video drivers, cleaned everything up using driver sweeper & ccleaner. Rebooted PC. Performed a clean install of the latest drivers. G-SYNC menu still missing. Uninstalled the drivers again, clean everything up using driver sweeper and ccleaner.

Accessed the registry...
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Video (highlighted the Video key and pressed the delete key to clear all NVIDIA display GUID's.)
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video (highlighted the Video key and pressed the delete key to clear all NVIDIA display GUID's.)
Rebooted PC. Shutdown PC. Turned off the monitor, unplugged it from the wall, press and held the monitor power button for 30 seconds to power drain it, plugged the monitor power cable back into the wall, turned on the monitor, start pc, performed a clean install of the latest drivers. G-SYNC menu now back, setup nvcp settings, fire up metro, g-sync working (red led shown on monitor), all good.

All I had to do this time was... turn off the monitor, unplugged it from the wall, press and held the monitor power button for 30 seconds to power drain it, plugged the monitor power cable back into the wall, turn the monitor on, g-sync now detected inside nvcp.

I can't wait to get one, but I think I'll wait until the GTX 980 is on sale, which is supposed to be announced this month. Hopefully it will have the punch to run this monitor at better frame rates than the current generation gpus.

So apparently my End of September was extreme worst case scenario from my retailer. FedEx notification for overnight priority came in. She's landing today.

The only thing I can think of is Asus headquarters near me is hoarding limited quantities and leaking them out at random here.

Can't wait

Great news...  You'll be up and running in no time now...

Better.

+1.  It does look amazing...

Here is my first post on the issue...

Dang! man I had no idea Gsync wasn't showing in the NVcontrol panel. Thats scary. I have not experience that on either of my G-sync monitors before. I would contact Asus and get a new one. That doesn't sound good at all.
