Hello, I am new I just bought a GT 740 4 GB DDR3

Memory frequency says 1334 MHz (effective) I ran benchmark and it shows 687 even on Ultra for the MHZ.

Does it show the MHZ of Memory the Video Bench mark is using or should it always show 1334 MHz (effective)?

Is the Memory Variable ? (effective)

hi Terry3373 and welcome to the EVGA forum.

can you post a GPU-Z screenshot of your card in idle and under load?

generally there are 3 different GPU frequencies and 1 memory frequency displayed. for the GPU idle, for load (base clock) and boost (Boost Clock).
as for the memory mostly the frequency of 1 memory cycle is displayed thus it must be multiplied by a factor (depending on memory type) to calculate the real advertised memory frequency.

this seems to be exactly your card:

the 1334MHz effective memory frequensy is the max. you can reach without oveclocking the card.

It depends upon what you're using to see the memory frequency. GPU-Z reports the bus frequency which is 1/2 the effective rate for DDR3. So half of 1334 = 667mhz..(I think you have a typo). In other words, your memory is operating correctly and the correct frequency.

Secondarily, this, unless you had to have a single slot GPU and 4GB of memory might have been a better choice: http://www.evga.com/Produ...aspx?pn=02G-P4-3747-KR

As Hemi\sahfiec said your GPU is probably operating correctly. I do wish manufactures never started labeling their memory products by double\quadruple their actual operating frequency. It leads to people easily getting confused and isn't even accurate as not all parts of the memory interface are double pumped.
