Is this anything you personally have experienced or just rot from internet. Time frame? Only experience I have observed is from leaving them out in sunlight or getting doused with chemicals. My problems have been mostly from scratches and those can be sanded out with a professional sander @ most movie rentals.

Or they were made from crappy materials. One time bought a large spindle of DVDRs and they were made of some kind of crappy plastic that I could tell weren't going to last long.....

Pressed CDs last quite a while. The ones you buy that you can burn dont last at all. With the exception of say verbatim disks none of them were advertised to last any significant time frame. Thats why m-disks are a thing. It is frustrating to watch people archive their crap on CD and think it will still be there 10 years down the road.

Few weeks ago I was installing Windows 95 onto VM using original CD I bought in 1996... Still works flawless but, yeah... that's a pressed CD.
