Hi everyone...

Recently my 6 year old EVGA 1GB card died (I believe the onboard fan died, and it overheated).  I reviewed the current EVGA offerings, and decided to replace it with the EVGA 650 GTX 2GB card.

I have just run the EVGA OC scanner, and the card seemed to max out at 72 degrees & 98 percent.  This seems pretty warm to me...  My system scanner has shown that the card tends to run in the low to mid 30's without game load on it.

Are these temps normal for this card, and what are the redline temps for this card?

One other thing...  When I am running a game, and maximize the window, the game momentarily distorts significantly (This occurs every time without fail), before settling down to a normal aspect ratio. Is this normal for this card?  I am currently running Nvidia's WHQL 340.52 64 bit drivers.

If you take a look here: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-650/specifications near the bottom you'll see that the maximum GPU temperature for that card is actually 98C. Most cards tend to idle in the 30s, and 70s when under load such as a demanding game or benchmark. Under load the card can get up into the 80s and even the low 90s without it damaging the card, however obviously it should not be constantly running at these temperatures. So your temps seem great for that card. Hope you enjoy it!

As Spenser suggested, your card temps are within normal ranges for when you're gaming.

As far as the distortion, that's not really uncommon.  I would probably expect some distortion as the aspect ratio changes, even if you're just watching a video through a program.  So long as it's eventually going to the correct size and everything, that's what it should do.

Thank you for the information.  I did look around the website before I posted my questions, but could not find the information.   Thanks again.
