I keep being given different numbers and was a bit worried when I was playing skyrim in SLI and the main card was going around 70c with the fan only at 65%. What is the temp range I should become really worried about? Also since I have had these cards forever now, does it help any to open them up clean the insides out and reapply some AS5 to them?

70c is pretty good, I wouldn't become worried until it hits 90c.
Changing tim couldn't hurt, but you probably won't see much of a temp decrease.

Thanks, so 70c isn't anything to worry about but what about the fan speed? What speed is safe to run it at for putting the card under load?

65% is fine. Though, you can turn it up higher if you want the temps to go down a bit and can tolerate the extra noise.

I wear studio headphones so I can't even hear it, that's why I didn't notice till I left gpu-z open on the other monitor and happened to look up. But I will just rework a fan profile for it but it still amazes me how the second card is always 20c lower then the main. I thought the load was split down the middle between them?

The top card will always be hotter since it sucks in hot air from the bottom card.

It's normal for the second card to run 10c to 20c lower than the primary card. With my 760s, my primary card under benchmarking can hit 86-88c, and the second card only hits around 70-72c. Games are typcially about 10c lower on both cards. I use a custom fan curve with the fan hitting 100% at 80c, and curving down from there. Fan noise doesn't bother me though.

One thing to keep in mind that I didn't see mentioned here is that the 670 will throttle down at about 70 - 72C.  What I did when running my 670's in SLI was to set my fan curve so at 70C my fan speed was 80%.  That way my warmest GPU never even reached 70C under full load.
