Hi

I need set my ram (G.Skill F3-12800CL9-4GBRL) to 1600 (stock), if possible, with zero, or at least, minimum OC (when i say minimum, is a minimum)

in my old giga ex58-ud5 is than easy like set the XMP profile, but in the SR-2 bios A58 i'm completly lost

any help?

my config
SR-2 A2 - bios A58
6x4Gb G.skill F3-12800CL9-4GBRL (2x set F3-12800CL9-12GBRL)
2x Xeon X5650 SLBV3 , both Costa Rica

greetings

Highest setting you have is the 1333 then you have to go to the cpu setting that says Auto and type in the number that gives you the 800 mhz on the memory while it raises the overclock on the chip. Look on this forum for screen shots of guys with the 5650 because there are things you will probably turn off like turbo etc to get where you want to be.

    Hi
    I've tried this config
(oly change the timmings to 9-9-9-24 and Vdimm to 1.5v (memory stock specs)

    http://hardforum.com/show...7221&postcount=561

    test failed :(

Boot OK, the memtest show ddr3-1600 and test without problem. but when boot my SO (linux) and test linpack 64bits (https ://software.intel. com/en-us/articles/ intel-math-kernel-library-linpack-download) over 16Gb, when press the Enter key, the machine freeze instantly (and reset button takes time until to responds)

    any help?

    greetings :(

Yes do not try for 800 mhz on the ram right away, just set it for 1333 with no turbo on the cpu and stock cpu clock to boot it up, after this has worked you can then slowly increase your FSB (cpu clock), because it is probably not your memory failing but the config of your overclock on the cpu. You have to take your time and build up to be stable.

    Hi

    now test this configuration (untouch)

works OK, memtest says 1600 and the SO boot ok... but when run linpack literally burn the CPU1!!!

    Ok some things I need to know;
Where do you have  the ram placed? 3 sticks on each cpu? And if so in the red slots? Some people do as the manual says and use the first three on each cpu and some do the red slots.
What volts do you have the cpu at?
    Do you have turbo off?

@cuda-dude, see the video in post above. use that config. untouched any settings.

yes, the memos sticked on red banks (like manual) triple channel, 3 each core
the system run OK at all stock (2.66, ram at 1333, etc). build chromium (takes 37min), Qt5, (takes 30min), and etc without any problem.
but when try set to 1600 without make a +4Ghz overclock (like 3600 or less)...

in first try gets a POST cicle of the death (always restart)

If with those settings I just wrote it is not stable then bring the 166 down until it is stable. Then you can decide what to try next to get it stable.
Try to find the highest clock rate that it is stable under 1.32  V. With the memory in a slow state I.E. 1066 setting, after you have the cpu at it's best clock then you can raise the ram to 1333 to see if it's still stable. I do one cpu at a time to find out what each can do then I run them together and start at the beginning.

ok. your config works for OK (only I change the Speedstep to enable. when not use the system save a lots of watts)

memtest say 1600 (yahooo!!) and the cpu gets +/- 3Ghz (great!). tha system boot OK, and the linpack runs without problem

    the temps is:

    coretemp-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Core 0: +79.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +96.0°C)

    Core 2: +73.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +96.0°C)

    Core 4: +78.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +96.0°C)

    Core 9: +37.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +96.0°C)
    Core 10: +36.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +96.0°C)

damm CPU1 (yes, is the CPU1, when pass the hand over the fan, the airflow is hot, in the CPU0 the airflow is cold)

    thanks at lot!

    a little question

*CPU Uncore = 18x ** change to auto if possible -> why you say this?. i set to auto. need set to 18?
*(And that may still be too much to run cool) -> what is a limit to down?

If it runs ok at those settings , start dropping the vtt, core voltage to lower the temps until it wont be stable to learn what the cpu needs, those temps are high even on air.

All I can tell you is that for me stable overclocking on the SR-2 does not work well with using the Turbo and Speedstep.
Now it looks like your vcore is to low.

Raise the vtt also (go in small steps up)
And turn the memory to 2T until you get some stability going.

    Hi

"Now it looks like your vcore is to low."
"Raise the vtt also (go in small steps up)"

you can explain why? I only make +60MHz OC to get mems works at 1600

in the stoks, the Vcore CPU0/CPU1 say 1.07500v/1.11875v Vtt 1.2000v. (all automatic)

    greetings

EDIT: linpack with 1.15625v finished successfully

I don't have your exact chip so I do not know what Intel says is the range, you can not trust the bios settings as always correct. Look up your chip and adjust if needed.

You need to either go watercooled or disable turbo boost and reduce the multiplier. Also note that "auto" CPU voltage goes very high as soon as you apply any OC to any component. There is likely a lot of scope to reduce heat by reducing vcore.

    Supermicro X8DTH-6, 2x X5690
    Crucial 12x 8GB x4 DR 1.35V DDR3-1600 ECC RDIMMs (96GB)
    3x GTX 1080Ti
