Free DC: 675 (20,641,923 points, up 639,508 points from yesterday) Up 25 spots!
Formula Boinc: 36 (12,658,063 points for the year, 0 FB points) No rank change.
The Vault: 117 (9,889.22 Vault points) No rank change.
Seti@Home internal rankings, RAC: 34, Up 3 spots!
Seti@Home internal rankings, Total Score: 663, up 11 spots!

Looks like all the AstroPulse work is done for now so I can fire up the CPU's on MicroPulse again. The AP's crated too much heat for my poor laptop and even my desk top struggled for a bit.

Is there a way to better optimize AP gpu utilization? Right now it's only spiking between 10%-40% usage on mine.
I already have a cpu core/thread dedicated to it.

Your in luck, there are optimized applications available. Take a look at this forum thread for more info. [link=http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=71867#1555015]http://setiathome.berkele...d.php?id=71867#1555015[/link]

Just be warned, Seti will act strange for the first dozen or so tasks you run after installing those files. You will see huge run time estimations and probably only be able to download one task at a time. It will clear up after the first dozen get run and validated.

Thanks, I just installed it. I'll report back after I finish a few tasks.

Edit: It didn't really help much.

You can create a file called app_config.xml (see official doc here)

Place it in your SETI project folder for BOINC.  On Windows, mine is located in C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu

Here is what mine looks like...

<app_config>
   <app>
     <name>astropulse_v6</name>
     <gpu_versions>
         <gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
         <cpu_usage>1</cpu_usage>
     </gpu_versions>
   </app>
   <app>
     <name>setiathome_v7</name>
     <gpu_versions>
         <gpu_usage>1</gpu_usage>
         <cpu_usage>1</cpu_usage>
     </gpu_versions>
   </app>
</app_config>

You can see for SETI AP tasks the gpu_usage is 0.5, so BOINC runs two tasks concurrently on my GPU.  Setting it to 1 would run one task, 0.33 would run three, 0.25 would run four, etc.

The cpu_usage is set to 1, so each AP task will use one CPU thread.  Same idea here as the gpu_usage.

You can see for the SETI MB (v7) tasks, I have it set to run one task at a time using a full CPU thread.

Once you have the file in place, you'll need to tell BOINC Manager to look for it.  On the menu bar, choose Advanced -> Read config files.  Then you should be all set.

Hope that helps!

Just crunched all the AP tasks I had so I can't test it atm.
Hopefully they will send out more soon.

Thanks planetclown  I changed my 3 GPU Rigs as shown below.
I wish I had known this from Day One. 9 GPU running  18.
I wonder if this would work on my GTX 690 Rig, I have the GPUs off now due to heat so I will run a round later tonight.
My GTX 690 Rig is running 12 GPU Projects, Holly Cow! Running 30 GPU Projects all together tonight.

Run Time is from 9 to 12 minutes Per GPU Project.

<app_config>
   <app>
     <name>astropulse_v6</name>
     <gpu_versions>
         <gpu_usage>.5</gpu_usage>
         <cpu_usage>0.3</cpu_usage>
     </gpu_versions>
   </app>

   <app>
     <name>setiathome_v7</name>
     <gpu_versions>
         <gpu_usage>.5</gpu_usage>
         <cpu_usage>0.3</cpu_usage>
     </gpu_versions>
   </app>
</app_config>

I wonder how many other Projects this would work on?

Did it for the v7's, I now have two gpu tasks running at the same time. Gpu usage is pegged at 99% and temps are still a cool 64C.
They finish in about 12-13mins vs 9mins for the single task.

More then worth the extra 2 or 3 minutes per project.
Just looked at mime, From NVZ:
GPU Load: 92-98%
Mem Load: 2010MB
MCU Load: 62-68%
Temps 48-50C

Can't wait for a Astropulse v6 Project.

Seti@Home stats for Saturday 8-23-2014

Free DC: 661 (21,328,875 points, up 686,953 points from yesterday) Up 14 spots!
Formula Boinc: 36 (13,345,015 points for the year, 0 FB points) No rank change.
The Vault: 116 (9,893.22 Vault points) Up 1 rank!
Seti@Home internal rankings, RAC: 33, Up 1 spot!
Seti@Home internal rankings, Total Score: 645, up 18 spots!

We are still tenaciously holding onto the number 8 spot for the contest. The teams at number 9, Planet 3DNow!, and number 10, Boinc.Italy, are steadily falling behind. The number 7 spot, being held by Team China, hovers at 300k out of our reach. Since no new people can join in on the contest, I think this is where we will be at the end of the contest unless we can add in some more hardware.

Just noticed Our hourly RAC made a jump.
I've followed Our RAC since the start, and we have been delivering in the 21-244 area.
Now today, it show 33,7K
This is also way stronger than Team China.
If this is because of the tip brought in from planetclown I wouldn't know, but we sure do do something right.

I think its due to the AP tasks that are making their way through the validation process. AP tasks are worth more points than the normal MP tasks.

Our RAC Bounce a bit, so do the others' RAC too.
If we keep the steam like now (31K) and Team China keep theirs, we are all over them in 12hrs.
That's when Viper can put on the "Happy Look"
But watch out, we have some strong Italians coming up from beneath, and we don't want Vipey to put back on the
"Unhappy Look" again do we?

Keep up the pressure teammates, only 4 day's to go now.

Thx Khali for the updates. I follow them very carefully

WOW our RAC are going totally off the charts. Fantastic job everyone
We are now peaking at 39.611 points.
With such numbers, we won't have to worry if we will make it 7th.
Thing is..... We might have a photo finish situation on 6th place

Well now, its been a bad day for crunching here. First we had the Seti maintenance. Just as that was done and I was starting to get some task downloaded my bloody power went out for two hours! Looking like I lost around 6 to 10 hours of crunching time. Hopefully my waiting to be validated queue will fill in and keep my points up for a few days.

It happens Khali... the point is.. we do what we can.  That's the finest measure of our team.  We do.  There are no absolutes here, no guarantees.  Doo-doo happens.  We just keep plugging on.

It's a great effort by a great group of folks.

One cannot ask anything more.

I'll be in and out... I have a ton of wedding photos to process for the bride and groom but when I'm not processing I shall be SETI'ing!

I don't mean to be forward, but I see you deliver nice SETI numbers Viper, but I cannot see you in the SETI stats ??

Seti@Home stats for Tuesday 8-26-2014

Free DC: 603 (23,493,526 points, up 602,009 points from yesterday) Up 12 spots!
Formula Boinc: 33(15,509,666 points for the year, 0 FB points) No rank change.
The Vault: 114 (9,902.66 Vault points) Up 1 spot!
Seti@Home internal rankings, RAC: 24, Up 3 spots!
Seti@Home internal rankings, Total Score: 588, up 16 spots!

As mentioned by bcavnaugh, we have taken the number 7 spot from Team China. We have a small 20k point lead on them. Lets see if we can make the point spread larger between us. Just 800k from the number 6 spot. With just over two days to go its going to be tough to take the 6 spot.

Me thinks poor Viper forgot to sign up for the Wow challenge since I don't see him on the team either. Understandable since his daughter was getting married and he might have been just a wee bit distracted.

I was there... just under a different name.  Look for my first name... ;)  I changed it to more properly reflect things but that probably won't hold and I may have inadvertently canceled me out of the game in doing so.

AHA Thanks for the clarification.
I wondered if you had been left out due to the registration issue SETI had some days ago.
I thought Dwain was a EVGA wannabe

Yeah Yeah... Viper is da man
One neat thing though. When you look at the right of this Vyper, you see a badge.
This badge tells this guy got first place in his group last year.
Those badges apparently follow you in the Seti stats.
They deal badges for 1st trough 3rd for both group, and User rank.
Think you're up for a gold one there bcav
