Hi,

I have the Evga X79 FTW-151-SE-E777-KR Motherboard (with the v2.17 chip installed), and i use OCZ VERTEX II 120GB SSD Hard Drive to Run Windows 8.1

Something strange is happaning all the time:

I Power ON my machine, the Operation system boots on, and i work normally with my computer.
After i Power OFF my machine and i Turn it ON again i get those screens:

First (picture above^) i get the EVGA FTW logo, and after a beep i get:

I get this screen above^ all the time, but it was allways forward me to my Windows 8.1 Operation System.
The starnge thing starts here:
After that screen, i get that last screen that tells me that is NO hard drive connected:

In a way to solve this, i discovered that when i switch between the SATA cables (Physicaly disconnect the sata cable and switch to another Sata cable) it starts to work normally again after screen 1 and 2, and it forwards me again into my Operation system.

And it happens so on- When i Shut Down the copmuter again after i work, it gives me the same screens (1,2, and 3).

Im sure it is not my SSD Hard drive fault, because i try it out at my laptop and my SSD is working properlly.

Now, i dont want to spend my time switching SATA cables all the time for it to work properlly.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Rami

CMOS battery might be dead and not saving your BIOS settings. Also trying re-flashing the BIOS.

Flashing your BIOS isn't going to damage anything. Down load the latest BIOS rev from EVGA and follow the directions.

Also try replacing your CMOS battery.

lastly maybe replace your sata cables.

Are you on the Intel Slot 0/1 SATA 3 6GB and is the Bios set to AHCI Mode?
And also check your boot order.
If you are not using the Marvell ports then disable the boot bios to them.
See Post Marvell Bios Splash on Boot in the Bios.... to learn how and also you will need to be on the Current Bios.
Also if you have not yet updated the Bios to 2.04 I would recommend doing so.

    Did you update all Bios?
You can see the Bios Version inside the Bios on the Bottom Right Corner of the screen.

I connect the SATA to the normal SATA II connectors and i have ACGI Mode enable. Boot order was fine which says "Hard Drive First".
I didnt update yet the BIOS. I think it is a battery manner.

Ill update next what is my BIOS version.

So now you have the SSD connected to the SATA III 6 GBs port correct?
If not then you are only running that SSD Driver at 1/2 the speed 3GBs and not 6GB that SATA III Provides.
CD/DVD and even Blu-Ray only run at SATA II or 3GB at this time. I have not yet found one that is SATA III.
My Reference is Internal Players NOT USB Players.

So are you now booting up ok?

I have SSD that runs only on SATA II platform. He is not supports SATA III (i think).

Also, here is my current BIOS Version:

BIOS v2.04 (I didnt upgrade it. He come like that)

Also, i shut down the copmuter again and it is now working properlly.

Ill check if that problem returns, and keep you posted.

    Thanks!

Glad you are up and running now.
That drive is an older SATA II Drive.
