Ok, so I have two z68 ftw motherboards, one with a 2600k and one with a 2700k cpu.  With both of them on bois version A05 the cpu idles at 30c and when I check with HWMonitor it shows the same information.  When I try to update to a newer bios the cpu reads around 10c over what it should be reading.  It idles around 41c and the temps in HWMonitor show the cpu cores at 30c but the upper temp coming from the motherboard shows the 41c.  My question is what changed to make the cpu read the temp differently and is this a bug.  It happens on both motherboards and I tried stepping down each revision but have to go back to A05 to get it to read correctly.  With it not reading right the cpu fan cranks up and is rather loud.  Thanks for any help.

Probably a bug, I would recommend changing the fan profile to crank up later or rolling back to old BIOS. Unless you really need the update no need for extra headache

So now that I went back to the old bios I no longer have the auto manual option for setting the multiplier.  It just shows the multiplier and when I set the overclock just like I used to It doesn't actually overclock it, it just stays at the stock 3.5ghz and I have it set to 4.0ghz.  I had this problem before I had to update to a different bios to make it work but I don't see that bios available anymore.  I thought it was A105 not A05.  Anyone got any ideas. If I use the new bios the temp goes up to 61c sometimes when it should only be at 51c.  I cant be the only one with this problem since both motherboards do the same thing.

ok so I looked back on some of my past posts and found that there is some missing bios files that must not be on the list.  My motherboard came with bios 689 1.05 x64 dated 9/23/2011, on 12/23/2011 I updated to the newest bios which must have been when it actually said A05 is the bios not 1.05 and it gave the option to manually set the multiplier.  The next bios date is 12/20/2012 and is R16.  The date for A05 is 3/10/2011, and when I download and install it, it says 689 1.05 x64 dated 9/23/2011 in the bios.  I think the wrong file is in the download link.  I hope this makes sense and someone can help me to get the correct file.

I looked through the contents and this is the 2013 version: http://cdn.evga.com/bios/E689_R22.zip
Maybe you went through a bad flash and it didnt update the BIOS. Are you using DOS method or windows method?

Just tried it, updated to R22 with the same results.  The cpu is reading 13c higher than it should, and going back to A05 doesn't install A05 it installs the bios before A05.

I wouldn't care so much about the higher temp reading but it make the cpu fan crank way up and I don't wanna listen to that.
