Warning: Flashing a BIOS will destroy your RAID array! The Intel RAID controller's firmware is part of the BIOS, so If you have a RAID 0/1/5/10 setup, one or more of your drives will be detected as "Non-Member RAID Disk" after flashing the BIOS update. This issue is not exclusive to this motherboard, it's an issue with all Intel chipset-based motherboards.

If you absolutely must flash the updated BIOS, use an imaging program such as Acronis True Image to make a full array backup (don't forget to create a bootable USB or CD from within Acronis). After flashing the BIOS, you will need to re-configure your BIOS settings, including changing the default AHCI to back to RAID. Hit Ctrl+I on the next boot to access the Intel RAID Utility, delete all member drives, and re-create you desired RAID array. Boot from the Acronis USB or CD that you made, and restore your backed up image to the newly-created RAID array.

If you are reading this after having flashed the BIOS update and can't boot your RAID array, you will have to boot to a functioning Windows computer and use a recovery program such as RAID Reconstructor to access your data on your RAID array.
