Hey all, I heard that the 64gb micro sd cards would work and after a little searching, this is what I had to do to get mine to work.  First off, this is the one I have, I am sure others will work too,

www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009QZH6JS

Next, the card has to be in the fat32 format.  I downloaded and used EasUS Partition manager to format the card to work, if you download from this link, make sure to take your time when installing.  Use the "custom" install option every time it offers.  There are a bunch of stupid search bars and such they try to sneak by.   If you do it right, you will be able to download the file and run the installer,

Put the card in to the computer/reader and run the above program.   make sure to highlight the correct drive (obviously not any other drive) and then go ahead and format to fat32.  It takes a few quick clicks to get it done, but it works.   After that, put it in the TN7 and it will see it and all is well.  I had just under 60gb usable with a 64gb card.

Anyway, hope that helps someone here.

I have a 64gb Lexar SDHC that will not work in the tegra note.  I formatted it to FAT32 but the tablet will not detect the card at all.

SanDisk looks like the way to go.

Just format it using FAT32.  Things you will need:

    1. A 64gb SD card, preferably ultra for extra speed (see Newegg item N82E16820171826)
    2. An SD card reader (see Newegg item 9SIA12K1045403)
    3. A PC

There is no need to download some spyware laden freeware or pay for yet another utility if you run Linux.  If you use Window, you might be able to use a Linux live thumb drive image. The steps below are tested on Ubuntu 13.10:

    1. Open a terminal and type in 'sudo tail -f /var/syslog'
    2. Insert the 64GB SD card into and SD card reader
    3. Watch the terminal.  It should show the SD card being recognized and will list a device partition, e.g. 'sde1'.  This is what we need to format.  Click into the terminal and press Ctrl-C.  You can double check by typing in 'sudo blkid /dev/sde1' which should report something like '/dev/sde1: UUID="3268-1439" TYPE="exfat".  Also, this should NOT show up when you display the file system, 'df' as it is not mounted.
    4. Now format the disk: 'sudo mkdosfs -F 32 -I /dev/sde1' -- make sure you are using the correct partition from above.  It will wipe all data!
    5. When the format is complete, just pop out the SD card and insert it into your Tegra Note.  Go to settings -> storage and mount the SD card.  You should see 59GB of free space.  Wow!

    Cheers!

I purchased an Adata 64GB micro sd card when I purchased my Tegra Note 7 off of NewEgg.  I quickly realized that my Note 7 did not like this card as it would not even see it, I called EVGA support and they suggested formatting it to NTFS which I did.  The Note 7 would see the card but would not write to it, so I figured that at least it might work.  My card came with a regular SD card adapter that allowed me to put it into my Dell Precision m6300 laptop's card reader (this is how I formatted the card the first time) however as I could find no windows tools that would format it to Fat32 I booted my laptop into Parted Magic and used Gparted and formatted the card to Fat32.  When I put it into the Note 7 it was immediately recognized and I could move various apps and games that allowed it to the SD card.  So if you have purchased a 64 GB card before you give up format it to Fat32 and maybe you will get lucky and your Note 7 will be able to use it.  In the process of all the formatting experiments before I formatted to Fat32 I tried formatting using xFat which was the way the card was formatted from the factory and the Note 7 again would not even see the card, according to EVGA support the Note is supposed to be able to use xfat and NTFS but that obviously is not correct info as the only file system I found to work was Fat32.
    Good Luck

I purchased a Tegra Note 7, updated to Android 4.4.2 and Kingston micro SD 64db. I follow all the steps from the forum, format the microSD to FAT32, which shows up properly on my laptop. However,my TN7 can detect the SD card, but can not read/ write the card. I wonder if it's the brand or capacity of the device problem. Try the 2gb of SanDisk micro SD, which works normally.Any suggestions?

Hi GLAM425 sorry to hear you are having problems using your 64GB Kingston card.  It may be the brand, I remember that when I first bought my TN7 EVGA support told me that the TN7 did not officially support anything over a 32GB card but that some people successfully got some of the 64GB cards working but it was a hit or miss situation, some brands work well while others do not that is why I mentioned the brand of card I used in my other post.  One of the things that I discovered is that my TN7 was able to read from my card when formatted to NTFS but not wright to it.  This makes since because Android is using a custom Linux kernel and the kernel driver in Linux has been able to read NTFS for some time but does not support writing to the card.  I have since purchased some extra micro sd cards and have them formatted to NTFS that I use for storing large movie files, most are mkv files that I have on my PC that exceed the 4GB file size limit you encounter when using Fat32 and my TN7 plays the movies without problems as long as I am using a media player that supports mkv files.  I am getting ready to root my TN7 mainly to be able to get my PS3 controller working with it but I am also going to try and find out if I can also get a custom rom that supports the standard Linux file systems, like ext4 or ext3 so that I will not have the read write limitations that come with Fat32.  I already use Linux so I will just manage my files using my Linux box.  I have also been considering buying the new Shield Tablet with the Tegra K1 chip, according to Nvidia's website it is supposed to support micro sd cards up to 128GB, it also has an 8" 1920x1200 led screen that also comes with a stylus like the TN7 but unlike the TN7 is a Shield and you can stream PC games from a PC gaming rig even when doing so via the internet as long as you have at least a 5gb/s connection.
