I have been thinking of upgrading from my i7 920 overclocked to 4GHz to the i7 4790k. Do you guys think that it is worth the upgrade. My main use for my PC is gaming. I have had the i7 920 for about 5 years now and thought it might be time for an upgrade.

No, it's not really a worthwhile upgrade for just gaming imo. An i7 920 @ 4ghz is only slightly slower than a i5 4670k @ stock in games.
The i7 920 is still one heck of a gaming cpu.

And pease note, except CPU, you'll need a new motherboard. And PSU looks quite old. So, better buy a whole new rig, or just use the current one until its death.

I just made this exact upgrade and have no regrets.  That 920 can't and won't last forever at that clock speed.  Eventually it will become unstable.  It is still a good CPU, but I'm loving my 4790k.

Thanks for the input guys. I decided to pull the trigger and order a new CPU, mobo, RAM, and heatsink.

The AX1200 is of server quality and will last a very, very long time.

I'm sure you'll like it.  Such upgrades are always refreshing.

Maybe, havent tested them. But anyway, there might be bad surprises. Here in Russia when our customers ask for upgrade, we offer them to replace the PSU also.
You should know - if a PSU burns, it can kill almost all the hardware.
